I got this idea from another new thread.

There was a famous local massacre that happened very close to my grandmas house about 27 years ago that made the national news. It’s got its own name and everything. It was a very big deal.

I love crime stories, but I hate the crime and the victimization that go with them. Nevertheless, I'm into current events related to crime stories as well.

I haven't watched the news or been on FB for a while (been mostly here on PC for a while, to take a break from FB). The last news that really intrigued me was years ago when they discussed Slender Man and the teens who believed in it.

I had to actually Google (just now) "serial killer" to see if there are any latest crimes, and here's one story: FBI asks public to help identify victims after serial killer confesses to 93 murders | US news | The Guardian

As for the other types of strange crimes, I haven't kept up with the news. It would be interesting to see what others have read about.

Thanks for this thread!

I used to live in Chicago, but recently moved away due to the violence - in particular, the "masked gunman." I read about his execution-like murders last year, which was enough for me to stay indoors since I lived about 2 miles from the incidents.

The suspect remains at large!

Here's the latest on that story: Rogers Park shooter still at large a year later, police ask for public'''s help with investigation | abc7chicago.com

The highest profile case here in recent years is that of a little 7 year-old boy named Kyron Horman, who disappeared from his school in 2010 and has never been seen since. Millions have been spent in the numerous investigations, all to no good result. A number of people believe his stepmom, who was the last person to see him alive, is responsible, but she hired the most expensive criminal defense attorney in the city and moved to another part of the state. She'll never be prosecuted, in my opinion. I think she got away with murder.
