I'm trying to replace my 15-year-old car. I took time off from work to do this, and have made ZERO progress... because I'm stressed and overwhelmed and horribly indecisive, apparently

A previous neighbor had a CRV, and the catalytic converter was stolen from the car TWICE, while parked in front of our homes!

It's made me a little nervous about getting a small SUV, even though that's what I'd prefer, I think.

Has anyone else had problems with this? I've tried looking up what cars/SUVs are most likely to be targeted (and haven't found as much as I'd like), and which cars/SUVs have changed their designs to make it harder...

But gosh, there's not a lot of info out there.

It's such a crazy thing to have to worry about. But, I'd love to hear if anyone else has experienced this, or know people who have.

Thanks!

I don't think it makes any difference what type of vehicle one has when it comes to catalytic converters. What the thieves are after is the converter because it contains valuable metals that can be sold. And every catalytic converter has them. The only consideration is ease of access. The quicker the thief can get under the vehicle & cut the converter loose the more likely it is the vehicle will be targeted especially if it's parked in a dark or isolated location. I don't know how this is where you live. But where I live this seems to be an ongoing problem.

Good luck replacing your 15-year-old car. Our vehicle (a CRV) is about 11 years old (I think.) Fortunately we have a garage we're able to keep our old SUV in. Plus we don't do a lot of driving. So it's still in good shape.
