Ok..this one stands out as the scariest thing that ever happened to me. Bear in mind that I am always a skeptic FIRST...and try to figure out what could have happened. I was living in Oregon at the time, working laundry at the nursing home. It was about 10 at night, and the road I was walking on was very dark. There were houses, but it was a Sunday night and most people's lights were out. I was in a very good mood as it was my "Friday" and at the time I had three days off. My husband was in off the road, and I knew he had ordered pizza and it was waiting for me, and I also LOVE the dark. So there negates a "poor state of mind". Anyway, as I got to the darkest part of the road, something darker than the darkness around it flew past , reversed, looked into my face then took off in its original path. This all happened in about 2 seconds. It scared me to the point that I shouted the F-word and jumped sideways into the street. If a car had been coming I would have been hit. It was about the size of a beach towel if you had it by, say a corner, and were pulling it in the air. So there is one story....

An alternative possibility is that someone actually was there but was acting very weird. But most likely, in both cases, it was hallucinations. Butt yeah, that is still freaky though and I would have gotten real scared too. When I saw the figure standing in the center of the basketball court looking at me, I left very quickly afterwards. Didn't run but didn't take my time either. Not sure if apparitions are real but that could explain it too but most likely, we experienced hallucinations. Very unsettling though. |

I've had all kinds of interesting and mystifying thing happen to me, ever since I was fairly young, in my teens. These experiences run the range from knowing what's going to happen next, LOTS of deja vu, precognitive dreams, and what I believe are spirit visitations. (I am not into the occult and never went looking for these experiences, and I also tend toward the scientific, rational explanations I can find for these phenomena.) But there are always one or two that escape explanation.
My husband and I were renovating the house we now live in. It was a clear, sunny, cool early Summer day. We were bringing drywall panels into the one back bedroom. The rest of the house was basically empty, but we figured that room, off the beaten path, would be best to store big panels like this, and handiest at the same time. We had about half the truckload in, when from out of nowhere, we both smelled the unmistakable waft of a freshly-lit cigarette. You know, that sweet fresh singular smell, that fades and changes as the cigarette is smoked-down. No one else was around, the windows were closed, and any air coming in through the back door would had to have traveled quite a way to reach us in that back room. He kept staring at me for a time, while we were both inhaling deeply the described smell. I peeked out the window---no one was around. Suddenly, within seconds, the smell was gone, vanished...the way cigarette smoke smell does NOT behave. We cracked up laughing. He was a bit more rattled by it than I was---I'd had things happen to me in the past. But this was a first for him. He just kept shaking his head---there was no need for him to say anything. The people who owned the home before us were known to be massive chain smokers. The owner's wife had only passed away shortly before we were offered the house. |

I dunno about 'creepy' but back in the 90's while blankly watching TV one time, I suddenly had thoughts about a first cousin of mine who I hadn't seen in a long time, maybe five years [a long time if you're say 24]. I thought to myself, wow, I wonder what she's doing these days, and how nice it always was to be in her company. I was smiling to myself thinking about those good times. And then less than a minute later the phone rings and guess who it was? That's right.
That's happened to me with family members more than once. |

I went to a mountainside not far from here one time, to meditate on making some kind of contact with the higher beings whom I feel are present in life - it's a subject I'm interested in. It was a beautiful night, a partial moon had just risen on the eastern horizon, orange, and the eastern part of the cities lights looked beautiful to me - I felt invisible. I meditated for precisely 20 minutes with the intention of making a connection of some sort - half skeptical and half knowing. And when my phone timer went off marking the 20 minutes, I slowly opened my eyes and quickly decided to look directly up - and what did I see? High above, way up high in the night sky, unmistakable, was a big beautiful stationary orange orb of light, which then slowly faded out. And I said thank you. It was them.

Another time, I'd fallen out with my sister for two years, and one night I had a very very strong feeling of her presence, of her being, and I just knew she was coming to see me. The next day - she arrived. What about you @rdgrad15? What other things have happened for you? |

Also, feel free to argue or question these anecdotes anybody? I'm just as happy as anyone to explore the truths of these experiences.

Yes, me too.
But what are your overall feelings or speculations about what's going on? On the one hand we have direct contacts with what seem to be spirits or personalities from other realms, and on the other hand it looks like psychic types of reading the future phenomenon. What are your beliefs about this @MuseumGhost? |

When I was a kid about 6 or 7 years old in 2000 there was a weird Nickelodeon show called Cousin Skeeter. It was a bit old for me so I’d just use it for noise. My mom was in the basement with me one night and we were cleaning or something and it was on. Suddenly we heard Cousin Skeeter the main character who is a puppet say “you got your tennis racket, you got your bull ****.” My mom and I both looked at each other in surprise. Then my mom started getting all pissy about them swearing in a kids show. Then in 2006 I googled it and I could find no evidence at all that they had been swearing. I googled it again a couple months ago and nothing. I asked my mom a year or so ago and she said “I remember they were swearing in some kids show” I don’t understand how a 40 year old, and a 7 year old could mishear the same thing at the exact same time.Maybe the network got hacked and they just covered it up. I don’t know. I still can’t explain it but I swear it happened.

I had a crazy coincidental type experience happen when I was 17. I'd just finished reading a biography about Jimi Hendrix and closed the last page with a little lump in my throat and thought to myself 'I wish Jimi's ghost would make contact with me'. Then I thought to myslef, well, go downstairs and switch the TV on, something could happen, so I did. I switched on the TV and before the picture had fully formed [old color TV] the first words that came out of the speaker, as plain as day, were "Are you there Mr. Hendrix?". Just part of the script in one of the daily soap operas, but still. What are the chances? I then sat and watched for a little while to make sure the characters name was in fact Hendrix, and it was. Are you there Mr. Hendrix?
