It was my birthday on Thursday. I turned 35!

I'm surprised and grateful to have survived this long. I'm also a bit anxious because I didn't accomplish as much as I would like, I don't make a lot of money and I still live with my family. In any case, I'm alive.

Is anyone else in the same boat? Are you surprised to get to the age you are now?

I turned 35 in Feb. I'm on disability, I have no job, been jobless for 9 years, lost money yet but I live in my own wee flat, have family, volunteer etc

I have accomplished NOTHING I set out to do when I was 16/18 years old. I feel as though I suck

Aw Happy Birthday there KD1980. Every birthday is a special day.

My Birthday!

No, I've accomplished very little in the material world as well KD1980. I'm un-pleasantly surprised about that. Life's been very difficult too - but that's mental health for you. Mind you, on the other hand, I can count quite a few special times as well, memorable times, times which I cherish, and I've achieved some personal inner goals which a lot of people haven't - but it's not a competition. Also, I'd actually planned to end it on my 50th b-day, KD1980, a year ago, but something very beautiful happened leading up to that time which saved me really. Yes, life is difficult but it's also a wonderful thing sometimes, when you think about it - but this is not about me...

Happy Birthday KD1980!! 35 is a good age. Very young!!

Happy Birthday KD1980!

And, yup! I'm in my mid-40s, and didn't really ever imagine myself making it this far. I feel a little disappointed in myself, honestly, because even though I'm doing OK in some regards - I really feel like I'm off track and not where I'd like to be at all, but also with no real idea of how to get on-track, if that makes sense.

But, surviving is a good thing, and keeps the door open to be hopeful for the future, right?

Did you get to do anything fun for your birthday? Hope you at least had a good day!

*** Happy Birthday! ***

Thank you for the kind birthday wishes!

@guilloche Yes, my friend treated me to afternoon tea at a nice little restaurant in the city. We had beautiful cups of tea alongside scones and mini sandwiches. It was fun. Two days before the actual day, I went for a manicure at a salon in the city. I usually don't get professional manicures at that salon because they're expensive, but I like the service and I wanted to treat myself. Then for dinner my aunt bought us pizza and i read messages from my Facebook friends wishing me a great birthday. It was lovely to read.
