Aaw, crying out to his family in far away Australia in the hope they will hear him and know he is okay.

Many many moons ago I would wake up to the sound of kookaburras in the morning as they sat in the gum trees. Then suburbia happened. I rarely hear these birds any more. I felt so blessed when I saw one in a tree last Thursday. Thank you for sharing this LiteraryLark. I have missed this.

Thus, it’s a beautiful bird.
A friend from Australia sent me its singing many years ago and it was always a good memory.
Thanks for sharing!

Who knows? Is it possible he also likes San Diego, isn’t it? I put up with them not putting him in a cage. I can’t stand animals in a cage.

You made a point anyway, boy!

That was adorable! It made me remember the song my great grandmother used to sing to me about a kookaburra.

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Merry, merry king of the bush is he
Laugh, Kookaburra! Laugh, Kookaburra!
Gay your life must be...

[She knew the rest]

I always liked it!
