OK, time to check in everyone! How's everyone doing? The worst news I got recently was that my p-doc is moving to another state to start a new practice. I liked and respected him very much. I'm disappointed but he has a new opportunity so I am happy for him.

Speaking of opportunity, what is everyone doing to make this positive? I am back building my airplane models - building a B25 Mitchell right now. I am doing a lot of working out and cooking. I'm staying busy and the days seem to be moving quickly. I'm a big fan of Jon Krakauer and finally found time to read Into the Wild....took me two days to finish. Check it out if you can find it anywhere.

Other positives - I'm still a smartass, my hair is out of control, I'm enjoying listening to my daughter practice her clarinet (negative - she wants drums for her birthday), I stopped listening to the news, the sunsets have been awesome and I've been taking pictures, and I am finding peace in not being so harried running here and there all day every day. New goal - I need to up my fishing game.

I may have to get a burger tomorrow. I haven't had one in a month. I've been home all that time waiting to see if I lose my job. Just watched season 1 of The Chi.

I’ve been pretty anxious and depressed about the current situation. I spent the last couple days in bed and my doctor gave me a prescription for an anti depressant yesterday. So I’m not doing that great but I’m hoping to get better.

My state is getting better though.

Reading. Reading excellent novels. Helps much. Can't seem to avoid sleeping every few hours, I'm exhausted. Doing some art work. Snuggling my cats. Cleaning.

Not washing my hair much seems to help it.

Thanks for asking, Jimmy.

Organizing our closet today. I like clean closets.

Online teaching is annoying but our superintendent sent uplifting message: you all can finally teach the way you want without evaluations or worrying about SAT scores or following every standard. You can finally be “you”.
That felt good. Nice to keep in touch with kids and parents and hear that everyone is well

Catching up on tv and not having to commute every day

I'm endeavouring not to freak out over the idea of "opening" the country. I live in a state where the number of covid cases and deaths continues to climb. Our governor follows the lead of the person in the White House. He is gunshot for opening the state. The idea scares the snot out of me a) I am a high risk person who could die if I get this damned virus and b) it's w-a-y too soon to relax recommendations for physical distancing. I predict a spike in cases/deaths if he gets his way.

I am doing better than I thought I would considering I'm an extrovert and live alone. Currently, the only living thing I can touch is my cat. Connecting online is helping though. And I am grateful to still have a job and be able to work from home.

I was thinking the same thing the other day! I drove by a 5 Guys in the next town over. How great is it to sit at one of those tables and scarf down a burger? Pickles, lettuce, mustard, ketchup, please thank you.

Focus on the good, Sister Mountain Dewed! I am basically stuck inside until June 30 at the earliest but I'm getting out.....I've found a cool, quiet place where no one is where I can work out and pretend I'm 18 and getting ready for hockey season! I usually act out something from the Bobby Orr era!

Find the good - I earnestly hope we all, as a society, slow it down when we come out of this. There's some magic somewhere in what we're all dealing with.

BTW I am overly-philosophical right now b/c I am listening to Led Zeppelin III.

Pets......my kids want a dog. I'm on board - we had a dog a while ago. I love dogs and my dad was a big dog person but since my mother is a world-class jerk, we never had one growing up. . But, my oldest daughter also wants drums for her birthday. Got 2 grand I can borrow?

Oh, I'm going for it. Everyone gets a reply! And a Tootsie Roll! Anyway, I'm a schoolteacher too! I left the software business 10 years ago - what a bloodsport, don't miss it. I don't mind teaching on line but staring at that little white dot drives me nuts. I'm fortunate - my kids are well behaved.

Glad to be here with you, Down and Awesome! Check out things like sunsets, birds, and breathe in the goodness that floats among us. I've been taking pictures of the sunsets from my bedroom window. I think the neighbor thinks I'm taking pictures of her. Let her call the cops, screw her! I'm working from home too - finding it stimulating. I'm thankful my mind remains engaged. I'm a HS teacher - I'm doing a live on line cooking class next week.....cooking risotto with asparagus. My wife thinks I'm crazy. I had a kid ask me today if I could teach him how to make a "killer omelet". Stay strong, we're all in this together.

My advice - do your thing and let everyone else do theirs. Remember, we can't control the world. I used to live a life where I firmly believed I could control everything around me. Then I realized, of course, that the world SUCKS and I have no control. Be your own boss. Let everyone else run around like a maniac. Lay low and chill.

Get that book off the shelf, Sister Unaluna! What the bleep are you waiting for? Get it done, I'm counting on you! . Seriously......a great book. It connected with me because the main character is believed to have the bipolar tendencies we all share - adventurous, risk taker, intelligent, engaging, reckless.

Control is a big deal for me. There was a time I thought I was responsible for turning the crank that makes the world go round. Took me a long time to learn I'm the only person I'm responsible for. That no matter what I believe I can NOT control the world. Current circumstances in the world are stirring up old demons. There is so much out of any of our control with idiots in charge of life changing decisions. I know most of the rest of the world is also struggling with uncertainty and lack of control. Still.... I'm unnerved and scared.

FWIW, my plan if the idiot in the governor's mansion lifts restrictions I'm still staying home, wearing gloves and mask if I have to go out. My other fear is that the idiots I work for will force me to go back into the field before it's safe. I already spoke to my direct supervisor and told him this virus could kill me. I know he'll work with me, but senior management is a bunch of morons focused on money.

Awe I am at HS too. Lots of my students have hard time right now, emotionally speaking and otherwise. Connecting to us is important for them now. Cooking is a good idea! Risotto yum

I thought of recording myself singing or dancing. I am a bit crazy, and I sing and dance randomly in front of the kids . Very poorly lol “please no singing Mrs. Divine” “oh no not this lame dance again” kinda way. they’d be watching and rolling their eyes. 😂😩😂🍎 it would be a good distraction

I just saw one of the Dolittle raiders in a museum before the lockdown. I use to help my dad make models too. Very cool!

I'm going a little stir crazy. I don't work, so this isn't a huge change to my routine, but I do miss the few activities I used to get to every week. And I find having Dr appointments by phone weird.

I've been on lockdown since the beginning of March because my Dr. advised it since I have lung problems, and as soon as we had cases she basically said "Don't take any chances:". Originally we were told it would be end of June before anything reopenned, but I saw in the paper that health officials are saying that because everyone followed the social distancing guidelines so strictly our curve is peaking and flattening earlier than their model predicted so they're now saying they could start reopenning some things mid May. I really hope they can, so many small businesses are struggling. But our premier has done an excellent job of balancing calls from businesses to reopen and listening to the advice of public health about risks. Bottom line public health has said we can think about reopening when new cases are less than 200/day.

Now the idea of risotto is in my head, I just may have to make some. I love it, and I haven't cooked anything fancy in ages. Need to get out of the food rut I'm in.

I’m wondering if I could get away with going to the good grocery store 45 minutes away from my house if I go super early in the morning. I think it’s a 24 hour place, and if I am completely covered up.

Just fyi, most of the 24 hr places in my city are closed at night to stock and sanitize, and the first hour after opening is reserved for us old folks.

But yeah, it occurred to me to go to the expensive market if i do go after my dr appt next week. I havent heard of any lines there.

Is there a "next door" app for your area? Ours is very active. Extremely active. Like i practically know how much toilet paper everybody uses!

Glad to hear so many good vibes through such hardship. My life hasn’t been effected too much other than the sick feeling I get when an ambulance passes and my unhappiness with cold spring weather. On a plus side, I’m enjoying quiet streets and fitness classes at home. I’ve spent hours watching cute puppy videos and gardening videos on tik tok. If your day starts off bad, I’m sure these videos will turn that around.

Can’t wait for life to restart... spring time blossoming, rain boots, sunglasses, summer vacation, sitting poolside, fireworks, carnivals, cool nights, clear skies and all else that comes with spring and summer... but I’m am not too eager to return to “normalcy”.
Thanks for this!
