Why do you like creating art? Maybe share a piece or two?

I used to love drawing in pencil (no examples on my iPad) but now just do knitting - I’m working on some 12th scale semi realistic patterns.

I go either digital or coloured pencil, it really just depends on where I am and what I have. Although I take my art everywhere with me these days.
Favorite artistic medium?

@RoxanneToto That is awesome, I learned to crochet when I was very young and have liked it since, Hopefully I could see one of your artistic creations one day?

@rise13eyond Those are nice pieces, thank you for sharing, I carry a journal with me absolutely everywhere and draw when ever I get the desire too!

I really like working with India ink and water colors. Most of my work is abstract and uses only 2 or 3 colors.

That sounds pretty cool. I haven't heard of that kind of ink, and I would love to try water color. Thank you for sharing!

I love to knit. No photos bc I'm private and have shared most of my stuff to Facebook and Instagram. I prefer to remain anonymous here. But I'm starting my first sweater, and just finished a shawl.

I believe art is expression, and expression is taking what is on the inside and putting into the world. @downandlonley I would consider that art! Thank you for sharing.

@GirlWithHope the trusty pencil, I stand by that. Nothing like the feeling of pencil to paper. I appreciate the post.

Your drawing is excellent! Reminds me of H.R Giger. I think sound is my favourite medium, and getting into recording. Good thread

@downandlonely

In my opinion, crafting is taking pieces and making something new and unique that reflects the artists personality. So, crafting is writing, cooking, making jewelry, knitting, crocheting, etc.....

So, yes, you craft.

Ok, I love to craft also, LOL I blog and love to make beaded jewelry and play with yarn and polymer clay.

I have several things I have made in my photo album here:

https://psychcentralforums.com/album.php?u=436239

The jewelry, polymer clay and crocheted pieces are mine and the graphic with writing at the bottom of the page with the bright orange cosmo is also. Some items in my albums I found on the web.

Yeah, I'm guessing it's art, unless you're writing shopping lists, then just craft also believe that art is the creative expression and craft is the skill and method, so art and craft really do go hand in hand

I never had success with clay as I have too much fun mushing it haha. I like writing and making music best as the lines can be blurred then redrawn in editing. Hope that makes sense. I uploaded some tracks I made on an app to SoundCloud soundcloud.com/kiddmannerdly

@KBMK Is it simply sound it's self you appreciate or do you like music? I am very musically illiterate. Googling who H.R Giger was lead to primarily xenomoprhs and honestly I didn't mind, what a journey of scrolling I just went on looking at cool pictures of aliens, Thank you for not only talking about your medium but giving me other content to observe.

@happysobercrafter I like your explanation of creation thank you for posting it, also I am going to enjoy checking out your art, and art you found interesting enough to save! I also love clay and building with it, I used to make a bunch of marble tracks with it instead of Artistic pieces. You have definitely left a great post!

That's cool. I've seen Giger's drawings up close. They're all quite monochrome, and mechanical/anatomical. Your drawing, I though, looked mechanical/anatomical, sort of heart-like. Are pencil and paper your preferred media? I'm interested in using sound as a medium for making sound art and music, and also words, either spoken word or sung lyrics

That is awesome to have seen such good artwork in person, I would like to one day go to an art museum. I am very undereducated on all the possibilities of sound and the artistic field, but the example you have given show you are a rather smart individual. Sound is a very complicated and delicate process to produce the right noises. A lot of my drawings do look like the human heart and that is one of my most heard comments, I fill pages usually but recently have seen where the textures come from and have been drawing more of objects floating in space rather than just filling the page.

Absolutely great work, Do you have to stitch pieces together to get the end result?(putting the complete nose onto the complete body)? I also think the main is very pretty and the way the ear looks is fantastic. I struggle to get dimensions right, is this a battle when working with a physical medium like this?

@128J - thanks for your kind comments! I do all body parts separately (head, including the open mouth, is one piece, I just changed colours where needed), then stuff and sew them together as I go. It’s actually not too difficult to get dimensions right, as long as you know what your gauge/tension is with certain needle and yarn size combinations. I make actual size sketches of the things I want to make then work from them

Are they realistic drawings or drawings of a completed yarn sculpture? What other animals have you made?
