yesterday evening while I was relaxing, I heard the icecream van come down the road playing his little tune

really takes me back.. when I was a kid, I heard that sound almost every afternoon.

anyone remember the icecream vans. I love the little tune it plays.. it's nice

what made this worth sharing is that it was cold, rainy, dark, who the hell was going to buy an icecream in those conditions

lol

Never too cold for ice cream. There are loads of cute amazing shops here that sell ice cream. I have a few that I like going to.

The icey as us Scots call it (ice cream van) was a very very common thing growing up. Always once a week went to the van for the good old 99'er (this is an ice cream cone with vanilla ice cream in it. Its topped off with a chocolate flake and actually cost back in the day 99p which is just under a £1) now a days its like £1 something no joke.

There was a kid in my street who was a little princess... she use to go to bed at like 6pm I'm talking a 10 year old no joke anyways her parents fought for the ice cream van to not come to the street as it was deemed too noisy. No joke they got the ice cream van banned. We were all raging lol.

Although ice cream does not agree with me (its kinda like I'm allergic to it no joke) have been like this since I was a kid I love it and will have it especially in the summer walking along the waterfront or beach

Of course I remember what we refer to in my area as simply "The Ice Cream Man". The vans I have always seen play silly songs, too. Usually something like "Pop Goes the Weasel".

I would have been surprised, too, if I saw it yesterday. It's too late in the season for them in my area. I remember them as far back as my young childhood and they still come in summers.

The comedian Eddie Murphy did a hilarious stand-up routine about chasing down the ice cream truck. In my view, one of the funniest of all time. Anyone wishing to see it can Google that video under "Eddie Murphy Chased Down an Ice Cream Truck". I won't link to it because it contains some R rated language and behavior description, but the routine is nevertheless still cute in many ways.

There are still ice cream trucks or vans. There is one going around where I work. Of course not during pandemics.

We didn’t have them where I am from. We had ice cream shops and outdoors vendors selling them

Last night i dreamt i took two bites from a chocolate covered vanilla ice cream bar on a stick, then threw it away. Somehow i had been given dessert before my main meal at the cafeteria and it was melting!

I dont usually dream about ice cream, so it was funny to find a post about the exact same kind here today!

Oh, yes! We called it "ice cream man" or the "ice cream truck." The one in my neighborhood when I was growing up was a sweet young guy, a hippie with long hair. He used to place a piece of carpet on the street for us to stand on. Most of us had bare feet and the summer street was burning hot. Fun times!

My favorite was "John the Ice Cream Man" He was in his 70s/80s driving his what felt like a classic car filled with ice cream and pixie stix. It's sad to think he's probably passed since now, but I made sure to pay extra (which I'm also sure was my parent's money) to get ice cream from John. I remember me waving for him and he was just the sweetest man, a total grandpa vibe from him. One of my lesser dreams was to have an ice cream truck like he did. Now looking back, I don't remember too much, but I remember him so fondly.
Thanks for this!

I've never lived in a place that had an ice cream van...and it's always made me jealous.

When I was a kid, the ice cream truck used to come by and when we heard its music, we ran inside to ask Mom for 75 cents or a dollar to buy a treat. It wasn't often that she gave us money, but when she did, oh boy were we happy!

The apartment complex that I just moved from about a month ago had an ice cream van that would drive around the neighborhood blaring its tinny music. I guess they must've gotten customers or they wouldn't have come by every day.

I haven't seen any ice cream trucks since the pandemic. I don't see how it can be sanitary when the kids all gather around to eat the ice cream.

IDK if this was an ice cream van. I remember Mr. Softy and I loved that ice cream, especially the chocolate flavor.

I love hearing the ice cream van! The ones my way play Greensleeves and the A-Team theme tune, mainly. I wonder who decides what tune they play or if there are only certain tunes they’re allowed to pick from? So many mysteries!
