I work at a gas station. A guy comes in for cigarettes. I card him and (as always) ask if he minds if I scan the back of his license. He says he prefers me to type it in because the government tracks stuff like that. So I type in his info and tell him how much he owes. THEN he pays for the smokes using his IPHONE with Apple pay!!! Yeah because none of that is tracked at all right??

It was so hard not to just bust out laughing in front of him. Things like this always make me grin

I wonder what he thinks the difference is between typing the LICENSE info and scanning it? "Render unto Caesar..."

The only difference I can think of is when we hand type it all we have to enter is the birthdate. If I scan it then I think it gets all the info such as the ID number on it but I'm not sure if it does or not.

@lizardlady I'm glad you got a laugh out of it because I know I did

Yeah but its the same Big Brother being given the info at the other end. Its like the customer thinks that if you type it in, the data goes where? Into what we used to call "the bit bucket"? Into where they dump the used motor oil? Oh look, the wire isnt connected to anything! Well, dont YOU be the one to break his heart!

They just made it easier for YOU to collect the data. Probably your customer is hoping you will type it wrong.

Maybe someone can help me answer a similar big brother type question.

Yesterday my mom went to Home Depot by herself. This morning I got a satisfaction survey in my email. She didn’t use my name, my card, or my email address. I’ve never ordered anything from Home Depot or given them any info.

Why in the world would I be the one getting the survey?

Only thing I can think of is that somehow her CC is linked to your email address. You could always have her call the CC company & have them tell her what email is linked to her card

That big brother watching you hit me a few years ago. I was heading up to the horse park for volunteer work early in the morning. Made my coffee but no time for food. I grabbed a couple of Belvita breakfast biscuits & threw them on the seat with my smart phone next to me on my truck seat. I never posted about it to FB or anywhere. That evening I started getting Belvita adds on my FB feed. That really creeped me out because I don't believe in coincidences like that.

Yes on the wax. I think i read an article about something bad happening to somebody - maybe it was on facebook? I cant remember, might have been on here. Maybe that triggered it.

Once I got ads relating to deals for replacing damaged screens for smartphones. I didn't pay much attention. One day I looked at my phone closely and found a crack on my screen .How did anybody know that I had a damaged screen.I didn't know.Don't think it is a coincidence.

Do the cameras on our cell phones take pictures that we don't know about? And can cookies detect a lot more than they say? I guess that sounds paranoid. I don't know.

I get it on all different sites though. Like different forums or just sites. Pops up on the screen. And I am not even on Book of Faces. Gross wads of wax pulled out of people ears
