I cannot beleive the market right now! Michigan is so bad you can get a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom, back yard, garage, and basement for 65,000! Yeh pretty crazy. And it won't stop dropping. Makes you wonder what it will be in a year. My street never ever had a house for sale. Now we have a new construction for sale, 2 used for sale, and one forclosure for sale just on my street alone. This was unheard of in our neighborhood 2 years ago!

This is reminding me of the real estate fall out of the late 80's early 90's when our economy was in the toilet then too.

Just beware when buying now...even though house prices are low....interest rates are up. Don't get duped into a loan you can't afford or that has a balloon payment! YIKES!

Interest rates are falling to new lows; we're thinking of refinancing.

The problem is most people don't qualify to buy a house anymore with the stricter types of loans. The "no money down" days are gone.

Down here you can get a 3 bedroom/2 bath/attached garage that had 10 feet of water inside. It is now gutted and ready to be rebuilt. When I say gutted, that means on the inside there are only studs. Electric, plumbing, sheetrock, etc all have to be done. Asking price is 50,000. Your lucky if you can find anything lower than that.

It is crazy, there was a big story on Yahoo a few months ago where a wealthy business man was buying up NICE houses in posh Detroit suburbs for literally pennies on the dollar. He said that he can hang on to them until the martket picks up collecting rent in the mean time. There was one that was really nice, worth 140K before the crash and he got it for about 70K.
