Anyone house buying out there? I am. I still am. I am going through FHA and to slow things down even more I am purchasing a bank owned forclosure. Well the good thing is, I am buying a house for 47,000 which sold for 106,000 a few years ago. Not bad! But waking up every morning saying "gee i wonder how much longer my closing date will be delayed" is a headache! Who can relate out there I want to rant!!

I bought a foreclosure last year. I will never ever buy another house that is not a foreclosure! you can buy them for half what is owed on it. the loan on my place was still over 96k. I bought it for 45k and that is 3 acres with a 2 room cabin and a mobile home and a large workshop.

Yes it is. If I wanted to i could buy a beautiful colonial in detroit, but its not worth living in a city where i could get shot the very next day. But detroit has some of the most beeeeautiful houses ive ever seen, i wish i could take one to a dif city.

Bebop is definatley right about the bargain in foreclosures, but as a word of caution, please do yourself a favor, spend some money and hire a qualified inspector to thoroughly go through the house,

Often these houses are in dis-repair and the owners knowing they face eviction will sometimes vandalize the house( the most comon one is to remove fixtures). Just know what you are getting into for repairs before you sign any docs to close.

WIth that said best of luck!

Yeah, I saw a news special about the housing market in Detroit about 6 months ago. It was about one wealthy man buying many houses (including mansions) for pennies on the dollar. He had a valid point, he had the money to hold on to the houses until the market turned around and in the mean time he's using them as rental properties.

Your darn right there will be a BBQ! lol I love BBQ'S! I already hired an inspector, everything is good to go. The pool is probably full of mosquito larvae, but hubby knows a pool proffesional so that will be their project. My project will be landscaping!
