We had to restart this thread for technical reasons. The original thread, with two earlier replies, is here: Favorite kinds of cake?

My favorite is cheesecake. Other ones I really enjoy are German chocolate, chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream frosting, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, and red velvet cake w/ cream cheese frosting. Every now and then I do enjoy chocolate cake w/ chocolate frosting.

For the past few years, I ask for carrot cake for my birthday. It's something I look forward to every year. Besides carrot cake, my all time favorite cake is simply plain white cake with lots of frosting. I'm a big sucker for frosting, especially those flowers the bakers do. Mmmmmm!

For my 16th birthday, I asked for a plain white cake. There's a big long story of how somoene stole my cake and my parents quickly got a new one, but I didn't know that until long after that birthday. But anyways, I asked for a plain white cake and asked for several bottles of sprinkles and frosting tubes. Then, I had a big group of girls come over and we all sat down and decorated the cake.

That was one of the best times I've had on my birthday, everyone decorating the cake to our hearts content.

And then for my going away party before I moved to Oregon, I had my three best friends and I decorate another big cake, and we got goofy and demolished/ate it with our bare hands.

Decorating cakes is so much fun especially when my friends and I get silly.

Christmas cake with marzipan and soft icing. Lighter fruit cake. Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting (not the yukky greasy substitutes!). Chocolate cake (has to be moist, made from proper chocolate). Lemon drizzle (have made a few this year, but seem to lose some flavour during freezing). Coffee cake.

Mince pies (from a well-known UK high street bakery). Unbaked cheesecake (I make a mean low-cal low fat lemon one). What we here in the UK call a Victoria sponge, sandwiched with strawberry jam and fresh cream.

Local Asda supermarket (recently sold by Walmart) has a stand selling different cakes. Slices huge, would serve two people. So many to choose from. Still resisting!

My favourite cakes, Black Forest tort (layered chocolate cake with cherries), carrot cake, mayonnaise chocolate cake with PB frosting and my grandma's German Chocolate; which I haven't had since I was little.

Cripers...I'm in the wrong thread. I'll take a choc double layer with coffee butter frosting. Two pieces please. Oh yes...and maybe a slice of cheescake since everyone keeps mentioning it. Any flavour as long as it's on a plate in front of me. *drool*

For my 25th birthday I got the SpongeBob cake that had SpongeBob and Patrick laughing and it said "whats better than 24? 25."

Its from a famous episode.

My favorite is tiramisu. But a local store makes a good imitation.

The absolute best 'cake' I ever had was actually a flourless gateau: Chocolate Hazelnut, with a dark chocolate glaze. Heaven!

Eskielover, you and my husband have the same answer. LOL

A local bakery makes the best cookies and cream cake with french cream filling. They relocated last year but it’s worth the trip. Tiramisu is great depending on who makes it.

Probably unfortunately, I live near a gourmet bakery. It is magnificent. Usually, I love anything chocolate. I really like carrot cake. But one day the bakery had thick slices of champagne cake. Gorgeous...pink, ivory, and white. I couldn't resist it. Divine!

Omg, BethRags! That sounds like paradise on a plate! Came here to say you can’t beat a classic Victoria sponge but of course, there’s always something fancier out there. But it is still my favourite. A close second is birthday cake (not chocolate, though).

Yes, the champagne cake is paradise on a plate. It reminds me of a fine wedding cake. I'm headed over to the bakery today to buy some macarons...I'm hoping they don't have any champagne cake today
