I think others might find this useful and helpful as well
I was thinking earlier and i realised that the reason I adopted Willow is cause she did something Ebony used to do, when Willow first met me, she came over to smell me then the Ebony-thing she did was wrap her tail round my leg, which is something Ebony did Its something i only knew Ebony and Willow to do, the way she did it I think in a way i was trying to "find" Ebony again, although i know i will never see her again, unless the rainbow bridge poem is right The lesson for others: Nobody and no pet is the same as another person or pet, if you look for someone or some pet exactly the same as the person or pet you lost, you won't find what you are looking for and it will just hurt everyone all over again, cause you'll be constantly comparing the lost person or pet, with the current person or pet. @willowtigger that is a very moving story. Sounds like your "kids" mean a lot to you. Thanks for sharing the story.

Don't get me wrong, I do love Willow, I'm just thinking trying to "find" Ebony, the same year she took her last breath in my arms at the vet, maybe wasn't the smartest thing I could of done

That does sound right. We can't really replace a lost pet.

I lost my soulmate doggie Leo & 6 months later this little 4 month old kitten showed up on my farm. What surprised me is that the little kitten would (& still does) intentionally step on my foot exactly like Leo always did & he would get in my face in the morning just as I was waking up just like Leo. I didn't even want a cat when the kitten showed up but I could sense a definite connection from that beginning & now he is a little cat soulmate. Not exactly like Leo but what a personality & connection of his own I have with him. I never thought I would find that kind of connection again. I never look for the same but I do love when I have a special connection that is beyond normal

I know Willow is not Ebony come back to me, cause she was already 4 when she came to me (well, 3 and a half cause it was the winter)
which means she is 7 now, the same age that Ebony was if the rescue had got her age right, when she took her final breath, we'll never know if Ebony was older than that though idk if i'm making sense i cant get my head around which year it actually is just now |

Won't get into a religious debate here. We all have our own beliefs.

Agree with downandlonely. This is a religious belief discussion & these forums are not the place to debate or discuss religious beliefs

I agree, you can't try to "find" your pet who has passed on in another animal. But going out (when you're ready), and rescuing an other fur baby who is in need of love and affection and care is a great, healing thing. They need us so much. A friend convinced me of this, and she was absolutely right.
I thought it would hurt too much. I thought I'd be a blubbering, dithering mess in the rescue center. It did take me a few trips back and forth, before I settled on a lovely black kitten who kept trying to get my attention from her cage. She had been slated for euthanasia later on that 3rd day, as she was struggling with a "kennel cold". All I had to do was lay out $5 for a prescription, and keep her fed and watered and warm, and the infection only took a week to completely clear up. She subsequently became one of the greatest cats I've ever had the privilege to know. Letting a new little sweetie into your life can be one of the greatest things you'll ever do. And the rewards are huge. |
