Realised this evening that I talk to myself a lot.
Feel like starting a club for people just like me

I don't converse with myself.
It's more talking through things or kind of rehearsing conversations-to-come.

How common is this?

Don't know how common it is, but I do it too. I call it "thinking out loud."

I talk to myself, I talk to animals. I live alone & have the radio on most of the time. Mostly for me it is just about thinking out loud when it comes to talking to myself.

Common or not, if it works for me, I do it

I've done it since early childhood. I rethink everything I experience. I think it's like taking inventory. And I also talk to the radio, and to authors of my books, & also to animals, & trees & flowers, to Mother Nature & to God.

Thank you all for these responses.

So...a matter of semantics, it seems.
Re-framing the notion of 'talking to myself' (along with all its negative connotations) to become 'thinking aloud'.

I just wonder how many other anxieties we deal with could be eased if we allow ourselves to perceive them anew.
