I [ well, body ] was born 1978.

I think, technically, Carter was president (?), but I associate Regan as my “first president”.

I remember my friend and I putting on leotards, laying out blankets as “mats”, and following along with my mom’s Jane Fonda workout videos (VHS, of course).

Same friend and I would choreograph dances to Tiffany and Madonna.

I turned the channels on our tv with a knob, and turned a dial sitting on the shelf next to the tv to orient the aerial antenna to achieve the best reception for each of our 13 channels.

I enjoyed 3-2-1 Contact and Get Smart, and I would pretend to sleep on a bunch of pillows at my mom’s feet when I was actually following Dallas and Dynasty right along with her. [ Spoiler alert: J.R. was shot by his former mistress. ]

My favorite color was neon anything.

I wasn’t into dolls - but made an exception for Cabbage Patch Kids.

I played with Lincoln Logs and G.I. Joe action figures; Light-Brite and my Easy-Bake Oven.

I remember my first computer, the Apple IIse, The Oregon Trail, and Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing.

I remember the Challenger catastrophe.

Any of these ring bells for anyone?

TY for starting this thread, @*Beth* - it’s fun. Fun is good; refreshing.

Carter, dear and lovely man that he is, was pres. But, yeah, you'd remember Ray-guns.

Yup! Her vids were enormously popular. Just not with me. Well, I was a bit young for them.

That sounds like fun

Ahhh, those were the days, my friend. No hassling with all sorts of stuff that keeps not working.

I enjoyed 3-2-1 Contact and Get Smart, and I would pretend to sleep on a bunch of pillows at my mom’s feet when I was actually following Dallas and Dynasty right along with her. [ Spoiler alert: J.R. was shot by his former mistress. ]

Oh, my little daughter (b. 1985) refused to wear anything for a lonnng time but her neon-green crop shirt. Ugh, the thing was falling to pieces by the time she finally relented.

I wasn’t into dolls - but made an exception for Cabbage Patch Kids.

But of course Cabbage Patch Kids have popped up a lot in this thread.

I played with Lincoln Logs and G.I. Joe action figures; Light-Brite and my Easy-Bake Oven.

Fun, fun toys!

I remember my first computer, the Apple IIse, The Oregon Trail, and Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing.

Did you love them?

I remember the Challenger catastrophe.

What a tragedy. I'm sorry your young mind has that memory.

Any of these ring bells for anyone?

Most do for me! Just in a different age context.

TY for starting this thread, @*Beth* - it’s fun. Fun is good; refreshing.

You're very welcome, lS
