In Which Decade Were You Born?

I was born in 1983, I still remember a few things from the 80's. One of the things that stick out to me is eating Rainbow Brite cereal and watching cartoons. I'm a 90's kid though, and I miss those times from time to time.

My daughter still has her cabbage patch doll. Those are the epitome of her generation. I snagged one with red hair blue eyes and a Pacifier like her. She was about 3 when she received it. My pony and cabbage patch.

Oh, yes. Cabbage Path dolls. Sheesh, I remember that people slept overnight in lines outside of toy stores to buy them for Christmas. The one you snagged sounds adorable. And My Pony.

Yeah it was a rare find. And cost a dear penny too. Fortunately I lived in the cities back then and had a lot of stores to browse until I found one that looked like her. Teddy ruxpin was big and hard to get too but that was beyond my income. The 80’s had some great toys for kids. I thought it would be cute to name the doll with a name that started with her initial, guess what she named her daughter all these years later! 😂 I think it was when she was 2-3 when target had special stuffies for Christmas. She wanted one so bad but I said we had to get one for her cousin. Then I bought a secret one from Santa for her. She was so ecstatic .

1989 was when i was born

what i miss was Animals of Farthing Wood

and Animal Hospital

both was TV shows in the 1990's

Animals of Farthing Wood was a cartoon, it'll never get shown now cause a lot of animals die in it and basically nowadays, people don't like to show kids loads of deaths in cartoons

Animal Hospital was a show that followed a actual vet practice in London, the main vet was nearly retired in the 90's i think, they will never show that one again anywhere, not even on youtube, cause of Rolf Harris

My earliest memory from the early 90s is of us getting home from a day out cause my grandad was well enough to have a trip out, to find a horrible note through the door from my "dad" who had not bothered to tell anyone he would be coming, I was only about 4 at the time

Thing was, there was loads of times he would pretend he was coming to see us, then wouldn't bother to show up simply cause he couldn't be arsed

I remember one of the few times he did bother to show, he brought his new baby with him and he spent the whole visit showing off his new kid

It was about people going to different houses and seeing which one they'd buy. I'd find it excruciatingly boring now though haha.

I was born in the 60s. I'd rather forget most of my childhood and adolescence, but the 80s had some cool music. Hard to think that it's now "classic!"

My grandpa had a “mild” stroke at age 87. It affected him some physically, but mainly it affected his speech/communication. He barely spoke from that day till he passed age 94. Sometimes I find myself missing his voice.

My dad had a stroke August 23rd, 2022. It was bad. He passed 3 days later. I’m not sure if I’ve even registered what has happened yet.

Ty for sharing about your granddad. It sounds like you cared for one another muchly. Very cool. I’m sorry you were moved away.

Memories can be bittersweet, eh?
