I realize Thanks giving is a US holiday, but all are invited.

This is kind of like Trav's Christmas doings. Folks are invited to our Thanksgiving dinner and other fun this Thursday. I'll put the turkey on Thursday morning. Following tradition here, the turkey will be neverending. Pop in whenever you want to Thursday. Let us know what food you brought or just come join us.

I am looking forward to a nice quiet day at home. Have been helping some friends clean up a major mess. I am exhausted. Going to fix myself a single person version of the traditional dinner, but otherwise spend the day parked on my backside.

I’m not going anywhere until after the dog show, so I’ll show up to pass the time. I’ll bring my spicy green bean casserole and lime carrot jello

I'm not going anywhere for only the 3rd time in my life. That I can remember. We were supposed to travel and have our normal big Thanksgiving until my aunts husband died. Then everyone decided just to stay home. My sister and brother in law are at his folks this year. So its just me and my mom and my brother at our house. My mom will still make a turkey and we'll watch the parade and the dog show. It kinda just is what it is this year.

So I'll be around. I'll bring pumpkin cheesecake

Happy Thanksgiving LL and all.

I will watch the Lions beat the Packers then have a nice meal with my family.

PS - Not sure how many Michiganders are on here but the Lions are pretty amazing right now.

Oh goody, many hands make short work. The potatoes are all cooking. Who wants some ing to drink? I found this wine called bread and butter! Sounds perfect for our meal. Anyone else? Have a melody of drinks. What ever is your desire we’ve got it.

The dogs are looking good. Gosh, I wish I could get one of all of them

I made several Cushaw pies for the IRL dinner I went to & had a whole pie left over. I like cushaw flavor better than pumpkin. Plenty to share.

Oof. I’m stuffed from my real life dinner. I didn’t eat anything until the 6 pm meal. Only had one serving of everything, and a few pickles,….they were really good pickles!

It's those huge green & white striped crook neck squash. Baked like pumpkin pie only I like the flavor better. Same spices used but the squash flavor is milder & sweeter. Though I bet using my fresh pie pumpkin puree would taste better than even the organic canned pumpkin.

Lol....Cote puppy likes cushaw. He managed to snag a gallon zip lock of the frozen chunks I was defrosting in my sink while I was away & ate 1/2 of the bag. I made the rest into puree to add into their doggie food.

I wish I could bring all the leftovers. There's some turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy for the two, pie, a couple biscuits, cranberry sauce, carrots, peas, and corn. I'll keep a couple carrots though.

Yes huge squash even bigger than butternut. I usually cut it up into chunks & freeze it, then thaw & puree when I want to make pies or bake the chunks smothered in heavy cream & covered in cinnamon sugar

I hope everyone had a good day yesterday. Mine was spent doing a whole lot of nothing. It felt wonderful!

Nammu, I was stuffed too. Isn't that the purpose of Thanksgiving?

Thanks for all the info about cushaws. Don't think I've ever seen one in the store. Will look next time I grocery shop. Eskie, your recipe for the squash with cream and cinnamon sounds heavenly!

They are never in the grocery store. I only find them at like the nurseries that carry fall mums & pumpkins. They come in with the shipments of all the different kinds of pumpkins. I am going to try & plant my own with the seeds from the ones I have cut up & also try the seeds from my pie pumpkins next year now that I have the slope cleared next to my driveway. Perfect place to grow them

Anybody go Black Friday shopping? I’m staying home today. And I suppose most of the shopping was done early in the morning. Never been one for those crazy deals, too much too many people. Before Covid mum and I went to one store that was open at 10 pm thanksgiving day. We both found something to buy, but my what craziness. There were no carts. The line to check out were soooo long they weaved throughout the store. But everyone was polite there was no grabbing and the long lines were friendly. People chatted and compared finds. But that store like several more closed. All there is now is Walmart. Egh

Our little community combines black friday folliwed by small business Saturday. I have been thinking about going to a new small business today & checking out what they have. I only buy from the small businesses in town so nothing gets really crazy here. We have a women's horse group Christmas party coming up in 2 weeks & we always enjoy our "Dirty Santa" gift exchange so need to find something for that. Good afternoon to go into town & search for somerhing appropriate. Lol.....I didn't go extravigant this year for myself like last year wgen I got myself a new chain saw I have used continuously this year beautifying my farm, a new vacuum for all the dog fur & a new drill for some inside the home projects I hope to finally get to this winter. I did buy myself this year a cast iron griddle. So tired of fry pan sides when trying to flip pancakes or dish up my fried eggs. So this is my treat to myself this year.....& probably a professional chain saw maintenance this winter so it is ready to go next spring.....& maybe a nice looking doggie crate for Cote that looks like furniture that hopefully he won't chew up. But those kinds of things aren't found where large crouds of people go & I stay away from the city during seasons like this

Just had a small plate of leftovers. Yum the best part of thanksgiving is the lazy day after and the leftovers.

Yeah Eskie I wouldn’t go near the big stores or cities either. Unfortunately all the local shoes here are high end and I can’t afford them, not even on buy local Saturday. There’s nothing I need. I did buy a coat off of my favorite clothing site, it had Black Friday early and a long puffer coat for 60% off. Free shipping naturally.

Oh' those left overs taste even better the next day....even more flavorfull IMO. I had turkey left overs from our Tuesday night dinner at church. I toasted bread & tossed the smoked turkey & dressing on it for an amazing sandwich....threw some of the mac & cheese along side & had some of the wonderful cabbage casserole as an appetizer. Ah, maybe will have some soup later tonight that is from my neighbor. Ah, I stay well fed in my community

If cushaw are only available at fruit stands that would explain why I've never seen one.

Ah, Thanksgiving leftovers are so good. I stuffed myself on them last night.

Black Friday - when I was younger (teens) I enjoyed the insanity of shopping Black Friday. Now? You couldn't get me in a store on Black Friday with a gun to my head.

I loved it yesterday I went into a little local shop & I was the only one in it though they had a good list of people in earlier in the day. I got several Christmas gifts I was looking for & had a nice chat with the owners. I hadn't had time to go in shopping there before. Bought an amazing pine scent candle that makes my house smell wonderful. That is the kind of black friday shopping I can tolerate.
