I've heard its a type of mysterious pneumonia mainly affecting kids but thats all I've read. Or care to read about I guess.

Is this anything to worry about?

Haven't heard anything either but have been avoiding the news.

I did a search and came up with this article

How worried should we be about the pneumonia outbreak in China?.

I believe it is a rational response to be concerned when the words "virus" and "China" are used in the same sentence after the nightmare of Covid. What I gleaned from this article and others is with the lifting of Covid restrictions there's been an increase in respiratory infections in China, just like happened elsewhere when restrictions were lifted. There's also been an increase in the number of cases of pneumonia in kids in China. I've heard similar reports here in the States though.

To me the best course of action is remain alert while remembering this is the season for increases in respiratory infections. Stay alert and take reasonable protections.

They talked about it on The Today Show this morning. They showed filled up hospital rooms. All the "no need to panic" and "not a big deal" stuff they said gave me early 2020 Covid vibes and memories. Regardless of what happens with this one its still weird.

Yeah, I still remember when they said (in January 2020 or December 2019) that the chances that this new Covid virus affecting the US is "very low". At that time there were just a couple of cases here. And we all know what happened after that.

I'm always suspicious of anyone saying "Don't panic" because it usually means DO panic.

Now I'm reading that some are calling for a travel ban from China.

This is giving me major 2020 vibes now
