Agree. You dont die the day after your birthday by coincidence.

Or...maybe y'can Una. Shite does happen right? That said it's easy enough to wonder if there were difficulties that age/circumstance may have been responsible for. [dire illness, serious personal probs etc]
In situations like that it's not the first time someone looked down the road and said no more. He was quite the personality for many years. Feller did ok for himself with his unique take on fitness. Had he been a bit of a recluse in recent yrs? Not heard his name much for quite a while.
Thanks for this!

I did some poking around after seeing this. Apparently he was feeling unwell the night before. He actually fell that night. His housekeeper tried to persuade him to go to the ER. He decided to just go to bed. Housekeeper found him passed away the next morning. There is an investigation into his death. That means it was not a death by natural causes. Personally, I wonder if he hit his head when he fell and had a brain bleed. Also, personally, this does not sound like he intentionally did something to end his life.

Mar dhea, I saw an interview with him where they discussed him withdrawing from the public eye. He said he was a very shy person, that having to be "on" all the time wore him out. He said he was exhausted and did not want to preform any more.

EDITED TO ADD
Just checked, he was76 when he passed away. Speaking as a 70 year old, 76 is not ancient, but he was not a spring chicken either.

Una, the world is full of strange coincidences. Well is does seem odd he died the day after his birthday I suspect it's just one of those coincidences.

I fell down a flight of stairs during a night terror in 2016 and I was bleeding out of my nose. I just wanted to go back to bed but I went to the ER. I was ok, just pretty banged up. But stories like his and Bob Sagets freak me out.

I have heard that old people (of which i am one!) tend to hang on for a birthday or holiday, then pass.

Hmm, i dont celebrate holidays, except for dayliggt savings Fall Back day. So if they do get rid of daylight savings, i should live forever, right?

Freaks me out too because my husband has had a couple of head injuries recently, he’s always been given a head injury card to carry afterwards, it gives the symptoms to watch out for.

You definitely did the right thing getting checked out in ER especially with blood out the nose.

I guess there’ll be a post-mortem for Richard Simmons so we’ll find out in due course I’d imagine.

Discombobulated, his funeral was yesterday. Don't know if they did a post mortem first.
Thanks for this!

Poor old guy. He was known all around the world. I'll always remember that frizzy hair.❤️ He didn't seem to need a lot of friends. Some info on Wiki:

"Death
Simmons died at his home in Los Angeles on July 13, 2024 at the age of 76. He had suffered a fall at his home the day prior and refused to seek medical attention. Police said that his death appeared to be from natural causes."🙏

I mean surely the police can spot a suicide(?)

Just stumbled across this interview with Simmons' assistant/ housekeeper. She says he was happy the days before he died.

Edited to add different URL

I've heard that, too---or they die close to their birthday.

I read he also died from heart disease too.
My mom said
"So much for living an active life and being focused on healthy eating."
