not dising the actual people, I have muslim friends, and even they will tell you that Iran, and Saudi Arabia suck to live in. There is nothing wrong with the vast majority of people, unfortunity they are kept oppressed and abused by governments that use or rather misuse the sharia laws. Its not about following faith but using that so-called faith for power, I have sympathy for the women who live in places like Saudia Arabia, whose status are no better than dogs. Dubai is an exception along with Baharain and in the future Iraq, who are become more pro-western.

thanks for the clarification Timgt5.. i have a few friends too... and, the news we hear is power capitalist driven propaganda... but, some part of what you say may be true... im with-holding judgment until the real truth is known... which, no one in a position of profit in this matter, imo, is likely to reveal to you, me, or God....

i have muslim girls who are friends who actually like the the way they are treated in their culture, and so, i prefer not to choke on 'news' that contradicts first hand information...

nothing against you personally, i just feel it wouldnt hurt to try and educate ourselves completely prior to contributing to harmful rumours...

Thats a bit over-simplified, Dubai is no longer a major oil producer, which is why they have wisely westernized a bit and become a tourist destination. The reason for the gas spike is a result of a number of factors, demand in China and India rose dramatically in the last five years as the result of modernization and rapid economic growth. Environmental regs have made it difficult to construct refineries and those refineries that are working have to produce multiple types of gas for different regions throughout the US. and the American public is still too enamored with over-sized, over-powered SUV's and pickup trucks- this society needs a serious reality check and the high price of gas maybe just the thing, yes its painful but true

Good post, I respect your point of view and will agree to disagree. The mainstream media does tend to get things wrong at times. Remember though not all propaganda is driven by capitalism, it goes both ways. And yes each of us has to decide the truth for ourselves, may you always be well...
