Friends,

The wrens who have returned to our home every year for about four years now have returned again. It gives me so much joy that these sweet and industrious little birds come to nest here year after year.

It's so cool watching the goldfinches change to their summer plumage. And this year, I finally learned to tell the difference between goldfinches and pine warblers. Bird watching Can you believe I used to hate Spring?

Yes, the comorants have returned and I didn't realize I'd missed them Bird watching We have one post that usually has a blue heron on it but sometime last month a sea gull started occasionally beating the heron to it and now most mornings when I look out, there's a comorant on it and I saw a second/mate too around.

I bought a couple of silly looking, colorful, bird houses I hung on the lattice that is shaping my pyracantha in the front yard. I'm hoping for purple/house finches to take up residence.

I'm not much of a bird watcher, but my cats are! (dont worry they are indoor cats) they will sit by the window all day and trill at the birds.

I love my birds Bird watching.

The winter birds are great because the feeders are so close to the windows, and they are always very hunger. We have a wide variety of birds and their colors are so pretty against the white snow.

We have a Pialated Woodpecker who comes and hangs on the suet feeder to eat. He is so much bigger than the other birds he kind of takes over. But he is BEAUTIFUL Bird watching

Today is the first day that I have seen my Great Blue Heron back. He is so graceful and elegant. We have Green Herons also, heads like a blue heron but much shorter legs and are they loud!!!

I am looking forward to the goldfinches, along with the Baltimore Orioles and hummingbirds that should be arriving soon.

All and all, it can be an expensive hobby to feed the birds, but it is well worth it to see the beauty of God's little winged friends Bird watching

Take care everyone.

If you love hummingbirds and have them in your area this is a wonderful thing to try with the younger hummers when they show up.

Just after a spring rain the young hummers here are so active and daring. I guess because of their inexperience maybe. Anyway, where ever your hummer feeder usually hangs, go out and sit just underneath that area. If you are still and hold the feeder steady in your hands they will come to it. It is amazing to see these little creatures up close and watch them feed right out of your hands!

Also a great way to interest youngsters in nature. My son and I did this together and he was just beside himself with excitement!

Goodluck and happy bird watching!
