Make sure to leave the babies and mother alone. The mother might eat her babies if she gets stressed out or feels threatened.

Find good homes for the babies!

Also the hamster looks like a Syrian, make sure the two are in separate cages or they will fight to the death one day.

I have a Syrian hamster called Wotsit. She was the mummy of a litter and was left in the pet shop while all her babies got sold - so I bought her and love her to bits!

I wish every one could see the babies at this time in their life (2 weeks old) - their eyes are still closed, but they are up and running around the cage like they know exactly where they are going...... and momma keeps on picking them up (by their leg, their neck, their tail) and putting them back into the nest she made for them and they keep on coming back out - its so funny to watch as this routine between mom & babies go on for ten to twenty minutes.

* * * * * * * *

Here are their two week old pics...... ENJOY!

Teddy Bear Hamsters - (babies)

... all the babies look like daddy - black & white.

... they are stuffing their cheeks & eating like mom.

They are cute. Rhapsody, thanks for the pictures. I love your baby animal pics. I have had hamsters and gerbils several times, and they are neat. We had lots of gerbil babies and made playgrounds and things for them.

Dwarf hamsters are really cute too, but I was disappointed in them and won't have the dwarfs again. Their life-span is a lot shorter, and they are vicious with each other. Ours had two litters of babies one right after the other (I think it was less than 3 weeks in between), and then the mom died when the second litter was too young to be weaned. The babies made it though. And the daddy hamster died soon after that, and he wasn't very old. Only a few months. We found homes for the babies and decided if we ever get hamsters again it will be the bigger ones.

Yes...... they do grow quickly and I never knew how quick, for I always got my hamsters from the pet store.
It is such awesome experience having baby hamsters..... I am loving every moment of it.

Plus I love the way dwarf hamsters look - my now 23 year old son had one as his second pet (hamster) - we had two of them and they were to cute to watch.

That's so cool! I remeber when my mouse had babies... and they'd be hanging on to mom to nurse as she walked about the cage.

The eleven baby hamsters are six weeks old today and doing good... they are going to the pet store to live tomorrow (the store that sold me a male & female instead of two males) - I hope they all find good homes... minus the two hamsters I found a new home for.

OUCH! - the little booger had more babies last night..... Teddy Bear Hamsters - (babies)

Now - is it even possible for a female hamster to retain some of the male sperm to use at a later date? (I know sugar gliders can do this)
- I am asking as "Nicki" has not been with the male hamster "Spikey" since she had the first litter back in January of this year.
