Yep I finally bit the bullet and spent some money on a new DSLR camera Splurged on a new DSLR

The battery is now charging and I can't wait to take it for a spin. The other one I had was 8yrs old, an Olympus. Was a great camera in it's day but only a 2.8 megapixel with a very tiny little lcd screen. Pics looked good on it but when transfered to computer, they looked yucky Splurged on a new DSLR

It was a toss up between a Nikon/Sony/Olympus. I really liked how the Nikon felt in my hand, but it was a bit heavier than the Olympus. That is an important feature to me as I'm quite the weakling and I shake a lot with anything heavy in my hands.

So I stuck with the Olympus on a 14 day trial period. I didn't go with the highest end camera...I'm not a professional so I went with the Evolt E420 10mega pixel. Nice little camera.....doesn't fit in my hands as well as the Nikon, but it is much lighter. The store was running a special on it and it included 2 lenses, carrying case and some neat stuffs along with it.

My older Olympus was not good at taking macro shots. I love doing macros....so this new baby handles macros very well. It also has some other neat functions that I know I will never remember or learn how to use..Splurged on a new DSLR

As soon as the batter is charged and I can start snapping pics I'll try to get a good one and show ya'll how it does Splurged on a new DSLR

HA HA!!

I was just saying to my good and quiet neighbour below me last night how I was going to get a digital slr camera,, partly as I like photography, and well engineered mechanics ,as well as "quality gadgetry" !! ,, and was looking a few cameras as and like above mentioned,,, but alas money sense won the day,,it all ads up,so I am sticking with my inexpensive ,not much used, but very neat Samsung 7.2 Megs didital pocket, it was and still is my first digital camera, and they are amazing little cameras, for the money,,,,however, yes,I would like one of these days to get a similiar D slr, but sinse I am hardly using my pocket didgital, I think it may be a while yet,,,
Its so very imortant sabby to get a camera that feels good and comfortable to hold, and with a quality lense and good Macro, you will be on your way to get some creative and stunning pictures of many a highland castle standing tall in the mountain mists,,,,, ?!

Sounds great buy, sabby,,cant wait to see the results,,,no pressure though!! Splurged on a new DSLR hee hee hee .........

((((((((((( muffy & bebop )))))))))))))))))))

(((((((((((( alevin )))))))))))))))) - There is a lot to be said about the point and shoots...some of them take really wonderful photos and they are definitely more affordable. I don't splurge on myself too often like this. Since the other camera gave me 8 good years, I figure this one will give me at least 5 I hope :rotfl; I really enjoy photography, I'm just not very good at it. I get lucky most of the time. I haven't picked up my other digi in ages just to go take photos like I used to do. Now maybe with the new toy, I will find some joy again in getting out and about for some great shots.

I'm really hoping I can get some awesome pics of those castles and the countryside. I can't wait to get started!

I couldn't take a decent picture to save my life with a film camera! It wasn't until I got my first digi that I realized I could actually take a pic without cutting off feet or a head Splurged on a new DSLR

I love the point and shoots...they are great really. Someday I may have one too!

I bought my husband a new Olympus DSLR for his 40th birthday this year. It was a bundled deal with two lenses, which really saves the bucks. I love the image stabilization feature, as my hands tend to shake some, too. So far we're both loving it. I stick to the auto feature and he's been experimenting with all the settings.

Enjoy!

Have fun with your new camera - I have two digital cameras that I know nothing about. One was a 10 year anniversary gift at work and the second came with my lap top. I must learn to use one of them, before my upcoming trip to Chicago.
