I just finished watching Grey Gardens and the follow-up, The Beales of Grey Gardents. These two films are documentaries about the lives of two close relatives of Jacqueline Kennedy. They live in East Hampton on Long Island. They were living in deplorable conditions and at one point, Onaissis paid $32,000 to have the place cleaned up and 700 bags of trash hauled away. I was so touched by these two films. I am going to find a clip of them and post in the videos section here. The two "Edies" , mother and little Edie were so captivating, and I can't get them out of my mind!
Has anyone else seen these films? Patty |

Yes Patty...I have. Well ...one of them at least. The one I saw was a 2 hour documentary on the two Edies. I thought they were fascinating....but I also believe the daughter at least, to have some kind of mental illness.
I enjoyed watching their relationship. As difficult as things were for them...they never showed it. They seemed quite happy and content, albeit seemingly living in another era. Are these ladies still alive...and if so, do you know how they are doing now? Annie |

Both Edies have passed away. There was a musical made honoring them on Broadway. Jerry is a cab driver in NYC. Now a movie is being made with Drew Barrymore as Little Edie. Big Edie is being played by Jessica Lange.
Yes, maybe Little Edie had a mental illness, but she was beautiful and gracious, nevertheless. I think she was stifled, beaten down by both her parents, unable to achieve her dreams, but she gave it all in the two films, making herself a cult star. Patty |
