We had a thunderstorm go through and our Internet (Comcast cable) went out Sunday night. My DH called Monday morning and a clueless woman rep took some time before she allowed as how she thought that maybe it was out in our area, just "wait and see". We waited all day, no change so DH called that evening and they checked and they couldn't ping our computer so it was us; they set up to come out this morning and fix it.

Meanwhile, I have a dial-up service I keep just for such emergencies. However, I don't have any phone jacks in my house Grrrr so I have to sit on my bed, legs out and laptop on my legs, on battery to use it. Worse, last time I used it I was in Florida but I live in Maryland and I didn't have a local number so had to get on long distance, then go to my ISP and get a local number. So, the last couple days I've only been on once a day for a few minutes, enough to make sure nothing horrible is happening anywhere.

This morning they came out and it's them, not us; apparently the guy thinks no one in our "area" has internet so he's calling "repair" and they'll be out in another 3-5 days, maybe Grrrr Fortunately, our library has wi-fi so I'll probably, maybe Grrrr come to the library once a day instead of bother with the dial-up.

But that's why I'm not posting this week. I can't take the 30 second wait for a page to load, I'm so busy elsewise, LOL.

Oh I hope you get it fixed soon Perna! We've also been having storms, a tree took out our cell service for a day. You don't realize how much you use it until it's gone.

I had issues with Comcast reps too... I was trying to decide whether to change my internet service over to them... and was going to get the "$19.99 self install kit" when she said they were out of them. HUH? I can buy them in the stores, but "comcast is "out" of them?" I told her that since Comcast can't even manage their own special offers, they probably can't manage my internet service. (I really think it was a come-on to make me pay more for the tech install.)

I did hear a good thing today. The crappy cable company losses its exclusive rights to town in October. Turner is coming in! Yeah!!!!!!!

We have DTV now, but I'd much rather have cable. We had both for a while, but we couldn't get the upper half of the channels in our package (mean no discovery health, no science, can't live without it). On the other side of town, they couldn't get the lower channels. It was SOOOOO frustrating, I was forever calling them and complaining.

Comcast is ridiculous sometimes. When I was living in Scranton last summer, they were the cable and internet provider for the area. Well, my apartment number was B1, but according to everywhere, it didn't exist, so they assumed I meant 1B. Well, after we got back to my place to set everything up, the internet did not work, but I was getting cable. So, they had a service guy come over a couple of days later, and had the problem fixed. It was because of the mistake with my apartment number. However, a few days later I came home from work, and both my internet and cable were shut off for no reason at all. Of course the service guy came back, and it was because someone had turned off all of my stuff when they came back to turn on the stuff for the people living in 1B. Crazy I tell you.

And currently, I am having more internet problems. Different provider because I don't live in Scranton anymore. But, I feel like I have dial up again because it just takes forever to download things. We don't know why either. There is something wrong with our line or something.
