You have to read this article about families in New Zealand who gave their children bizarre names like Fish and Chips. What is even more bizarre though, is which names the courts decided to permit. You have to read this.

A girl I went to school with was named Candace Caine... by 7th grade she absolutely insisted she be called Candace and not Candie.

Stars really give their kids messed up names,

Apple, Blanket, Pilot to name a few.

I went to school with a girl who's last name was Fluck, the poor girl was teased so bad. Kids can be sooooo cruel.

When I named my kids I made sure that nothing horrible rhymed with them. I'm sure that kids could tease any name if they really wanted to, I just didn't want to make them a target.

What strikes me though is how legislation could take away a funny name and not forbid the name Violence. What gets into some people's heads?

That is truly odd, but I have to say, I'm kinda glad the judge did what he did. They're called nicknames for a reason. (Although "Talula does the hula" is a phrase.) My sister's nickname was banana, because my mom would call her Suzanna Banana Tanna, but she'd never have given her that as her real name.

Selfy, Michael Jackson named his son Blanket.

My name is April, my name got picked apart...

I got called Ape, Apy, A. Then I alway here "it's not April it's September (or what ever month we are in). April showers, April in paris. The smaller kids called me apple (could pronouce April), my great-grandmom called me Apple Jacks. My one Aunt calls me Bapple. I could keep going but I stop!

If someone actually calls me my my real name, I know their pissed at me.

I was on holiday once and heard a dad calling to his daughter... he was saying Safeway (which was a supermarkets name in the UK)
I also read a newspaper article once about a couple who had just got married. The woman's first name was Orson and the man's name was Mr Kart. The woman is now called Orson Kart ('horse 'n' cart')

I had a friend who didn't think of initials when she named her son. The name is lovely but look at the initials....Alexander Stephen Sinclair.

My maiden name initials were LAD (me being a woman it was a bit annoying). When I dated a guy whose last name was deYoung....I thought I would finally change my initials from lad to lady. It didn't work out.

ha...ha....ha. Bizarre Names

Very funny wanttoheal. I heard these kind of jokes all my life.

But some people set them selves up for it. April, May and June. I'm sorry, that's kind of cute, but she was setting herself up to be teased.

I still remember in elementary school, a boy who was named Hugh Hughes. My college roomate's last name was Rosier and her sister married a guy whose last name was Day; they joked about maybe naming their daughter Rosier Day.

I know there was a civic leader in Fort Wayne, Indiana once named Harry Baals (pronounced balls, yes, harry balls). They named a street after him and I got to go survey there. Yep, Harry Baals Drive.

A friend of mine worked with a Mr. Audley Quear.
What kind of parents would do that to a child?

We had a substitute teacher named Mr. Dull, and he was true to his name. Very, very dull. Almost a caricature. He looked kinda like Dilbert, except not cute. And he didn't have a tie that pointed up.
