I have to post something positive or else I'll sit here and cry, so I want to share just a minute about my kids. Their dad has been out of their lives for years and years. They are 16 and 14. My 16 year old, T, is a junior, she is number two in her class (her best friend is 1), has a ton of friends, has an awesome, respectful boyfriend, is very active in our church youth group, is a Big Sister through the school, takes private trombone lessons and is 1st chair trombone in band and wants to go to college to be a music teacher. My 14 year old is a freshman, she is 19th in her class, studies very hard, plays the trumpet in band and has a wonderful goal--to make team USA for the World Karate Assocation World's competition next year. She has been in karate since 5th grade and is testing for her second stripe on her brown belt (then she goes for black belt) next weekend. During the summer she was going to karate 6 days a week for a total of 4 1/2 hours per day! Just wanted to mention something that makes me smile--my kids.

(((cantstopcrying))) that is something really positive, your kids sound great and for both of them to be achieving so much at their age. You must be really proud of them?
There is another positive thing there too... YOU, you must be an excellent mother to have brought up your daughters so well and on your own too.

Stay positive

Thank you all. Everyone always adds that I'm a great mother to have such awesome kids and I always have a hard time believing that. They sure make me proud and happy, though. Actually, (going to ramble for a moment), my youngest struggles so hard in school and once in middle school she got a D on a test and when she told me I hugged her and said I was proud of her. Poor baby was crying and pulled away, looked up at me and said "I said a D, not a B." Told her I know and was proud of her--she didn't get an E and she took the test and tried her hardest and came home and told me, which meant she wanted to improve on it. Told her I'm not proud of her only when she brings home A's and B's. So why can I do it with my kids and not me????? Hmmm Anyway, thank you all for taking the time to read and respond.

you will
It's taken me a long time to be proud of myself and see the good things, it may take a long time more for it to be able to stay that way, but I've made it this far...
and I know you can be proud of yourself and see the good things too. I believe that you can.

((((((((((((((((((((cantstopcrying))))))))))))))))))))

you're kids sound as awesome as you .....

as for you being able to support and nurture your kids so well and not yourself .... it is a very common factor amongst people with mental health issues/depression etc ... it will come .... you have made yourself feel positive today by posting this ... you have made me positive from your post .... so you can make YOU feel positive every morning by first thinking what a great mother you are, what great kids you have and then telling yourself you are a great person in the mirror looking straight into your own eyes your brain will gradually begin believing it ......

Thankyou for sharing this post .... lots of hugs, Jinnyann xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Thanks for this!

Congratulations - your kids sound wonderful. And you must be a great Mom to have raised them on your own.

Lol, that's okay, you can brag all you want

My parents don't brag about us to other people, but they do tell us on occation how wonderful it is for myself and my brother to care, that aparently the ability to care, and our determination to get what we really want in life if we set our minds to it is somewhat of a rare trait for my generation. My teachers always tell my parents that we are two of the most brilliant and insightful kids they've ever met...even if we aren't the most studious You remind me of my parents in some ways too

Caring is an awesome thing for a teenager--or anyone. I just can't resist bragging about the girls, though. Everyone at my work knows how Kait does at every competition and knows when Tori has a band solo or something. Brilliant and insightful are tremendous for youngsters--as smart as my girls are, sometimes they lack common sense!
