With cost of gas still high a lot of people are now seriously thinking about hybrid cars. Carmakers are too, here are some new ones to look for
1) 2010 Honda Insight, this is the second car to wear the name plate, the first was a tiny 2 seater that got nearly 70 miles to the gallon but was not practical for a family car and went away in 2006. The 2010 version is a 4 door hatchback similar in shape to the Clarity fuel cell car. Expect over 50mpg and the best news: it will be the cheapest Hybrid car on the market starting at under $19,000.00 dollars 2) 2010 Toyota Prius, a redesign of the current hybrid sales leader is due, expect this one to be a bit larger but similar in shape to the current model. an even higher gas mileage Plug-in version is coming, expect the Plug-in one to get close to 80 mpg. Prices start at around 21K 3) Chevy Volt, this plug in hybrid is perhaps the most interesting car GM has had in many years. The car will drive on its electric motor, which is kept charged by a tiny gasoline engine. Rumors are this car will get close to 100MPG. The only draw back is the price $40,000.00. Hopefully if GM is smart they will offer a subsidized lease on the Volt 3) 2011 Honda CRZ and Fit Hybrid, Honda is launching a Hybrid version of its already popular Fit Hatchback and a sporty Hybrid CRZ which is meant to capture the spirit of the feisty CRX of the late eightes and early nineties. Hybrid cars are not the final answer to our carbon and fossil fuel dependence issues but they are a step in the right direction. I would urge anyone in the market for a new car to give these vehicles a serious look. |

I'm glad to read of hybrid cars. Mine is not, but I wish I had bought one last year when I traded!
