Do you wait til the last minute or do you do your's all through the year?

I have amazed myself this year and got on the ball and am almost done already. I didn't spend much on anyone but got some neat stuff. I belong to a couple of neat websites paperbackswap and their sister sites swapadvd and swapacd so I got 2 gifts off of those. I got my Dad the movie Good Night and Good Luck and I got my mom a book on Scrapbooking as she really likes to do that as do I so I figured I could look at the book too.

I am going to make my sister's gift I'm making her a scrapbook of memorable events of our childhood. My brother-in-law wants a back scratchers so I'm off to the dollar store for that.

Today we stopped off at a garage sale sale for the boy scouts and the leader came over to us and told us that they had a deal going on that whatever you could stuff into a walmart sack was $5 and we said give us a sack. Well they came over a bit later and said it's getting to the end of the sale so we've marked the price down to $2 and we said can we have another sack please?LOL I ended up getting my little cousin's their gifts there. I got my Grandma her gift at the craft fair I went to this morning.

I am just amazed at my organizational skills when it comes to Christmas this year. Normally it comes down the wire and I'm out there in the masses going I need a gift I need a gift.

What I do for the eating is eat the protein first and then eat a little bit of whatever you like the best next.

No but I figured on meat, cheeses, milk, and stuff like that. I try to stay away from things that have a cream sauce although I have to have the cheesy broccoli casserole. I do eat a bit of mashed tators with a little bit of gravy. I do add a bit of gravy to the turkey as sometimes that can be a bit dry and was told that was ok to do. Try to stay away from the rolls as that is just bulk and it will just fill you up and you won't be able to fit anything else in. Remember not to drink with your meal. That is hard to do and if you must have your drink at your plate just sip.

I am one of those who shops all year through for things. It's not that I'm organized, it's that I'm broke, and I'd never be able to afford anything at all if I had to come up with a large sum of money at the last second. It's a lot easier to fit something like a music CD into my budget if I can buy it on sale. I also buy a lot of music on Ebay, btw.

I only buy for my son, his a-parents, and the family of the sister where I usually spend Christmas. Everybody is getting really minimal stuff this year. The brewery down the street from me has a tent sale every summer of merchandise they've discontinued, so I picked up some $2 Tshirts, for example. My niece, who loves anything to do with Peeps (those marshmallow bunnies, etc that come out at Easter) is getting a gag gift of a Peeps puzzle I got at a dollar store. (I'm also going to get her something more substantial, don't worry. )

While it would be nice to be able to afford to do it all at once, it does keep me on my toes, creatively speaking, to do it year round!

I'm changing my buying habits this year because of the economy. Things are just plain Tight!
We buy some for the grandkids, small checks for our grown kids, and everyone else gets baked goods. 'Course with the price of food, I may have to get a wee bit creative in that department, too.

Being on a fixed income is such a joy...

Christmas shopping??!!?? I'm having a tough time just food shopping for regular weekly food, let alone thinking about Christmas shopping. I thank God every day that my girls are not--in any way, shape or form--materialistic. This is my first Christmas in 10 years that I will be trying to figure out how to do it on my own (and heck, at that time they were 6 and 4). Blah! I tried doing it throughout the year last year and it failed--either they outgrew the clothes I bought or they ended up getting the exact same things I bought for birthdays, etc. Books they ended up checking out at the library. Epic Fail!
