Vinly...Do you think this is due just to Vista? If so, I hate to hear this! I am on an older program, and have no problems.

Hmmmmmm....Vista preventing access to chat? Never heard of that one....yet.
Although....I've never heard anyone speak fondly of Vista, either. (And I know a great deal who have it). Those who have it and know how to reformat to XP, do. And those who don't know how, regret it and suffer.
Have you heard, though....Vista is now Mojave?

btw....there are many ways of troubleshooting your issue. Have you tried to google it to reach a site that can assist you to finding the problem?
I'd try to help, but I have XP.....not certain if I could be of any help to you. I'll keep my fingers xed for you though. Hope it works out.

im running windows vista and have no problems at all with chat. the only thing you should need to get into chat is java. this is the link for their webpage http://java.com/en/download/ maybe try downloading from here instead of from PsychoCentral. the other possibility is maybe you didnt have enough posts in the forum to be able to get into chat. i dont remember the number of posts you need tho. its prolly something like 5. Id try updating/downloading java first tho

I use vista and I haven't had a problem chatting, I actually I use vista on two computers and it's not my favorite system but I don't think it's that bad. I had a bit of a problem installing plugins at first but I think I have figured it out now. When the pop up window comes up that shows the downloads that you have in order to actually install it you have to double click on the program that you want to install and follow the directions to get it installed. I have noticed that on somethings you have to manually download it, every time this has happened to me there has been a window come up that gives you the option to do it manually.
I am not a technological person so I hope that what I have explained makes sense, I am not very good at this kind of stuff or trying to explain it.

so um, if you don't know what's going on, how do you know that vista is the culprit? i suppose that flaming microsoft is always fun, but it won't endear you with customer service.
seriously tho, have you tried running any other java based web applications to see if they work? 2) if you believe vista is the culprit did you try running windows update to see if your version of java or vista needs patches?
3) have you tried sticking your head out the window and screaming "i am not going to take this anymore!" ?
4) did you really read past 3)?
5) get a mac
g'luck
