Friends,
Fall is here on the Prairie. Last night a doe came to feed in our back pasture. Her coat was a medium brown to assure her some anonymty against the prairie grass. My black, 21-yr. old cat, Little Bear, was sitting on the back deck watching her eat. Today when I put my dogs out a little while ago, Baby Girl, my middle Saint (as in St. Bernard) started barking at our two steers, who were hovering near the fence to the west of our house reminding us it was almost dinner time. Molly, my senior Saint, enjoyed herself barking at the horses who were in the back pasture, when I let her out. The dogs are back in, and my husband has gone out to feed the steers and horses. I am heading into the kitchen to make us dinner. All is well on the Prairie. EJ |

I love your little "stories" and picturing your home. We've been having rain, and today, wind and it's been a bit depressing. I made beef stew last night and decided to buy Pepperidge Farm chicken pot pies for dinner on my way home from chores out this morning. That's pretty much all dreary fall days are good for to me; pleasant, homey, warm, comfort food :-)
