I watched that show "the Doctors" for the 1st time today and they mentioned the term Cyberchondriac. Cracked me up because I live online and the 1st thing I do if something is wrong with me is head to Dr. Google to see what I can find out.

I thought maybe they had coined a brand new term, but I Googled it and found a NY Times story about it and the term has been around since 2000.

So anyway, are you a Cyberchondriac???

Not a cyberchondriac - no. But I do sometimes think I drive my pdoc slightly nuts as she can't prescribe anything for me, without my researching it thoroughly on the internet, including checking for drug interactions. Last time I was in I raised a question about one of the drugs I'm on and she just laughed and said how do you know all this stuff, as I'm usually right.

At least she doesn't mind the fact that I like to be informed.

splitimage, you sound exactly like me. My pdoc gets a little irritated sometimes and tells me jokingly, just because I live online and research meds obsessively does not mean I know enough to be the Dr. But he almost always ends up agreeing with me eventually.

I'm afraid I am. I think for me it's connected to my depression and unemployment. I'm ashamed to say that the other day I found myself still in my pjs at 3pm here on pc.
I guess it's better than sleeping all the time.
