****gulp**** (wipes a tear away)
Victoria (Tori, my 16 year old) just told me she has to write a paper for Honors English 11 on her hero. (She was online at the library, so we were IM'ing). I told her she better get researching and asked who it was, figuring it would be a Church figure or military personnell or Curtis Granderson (a Detroit Tiger baseball player who is very grounded and very charitable). Nope. It's me. ME!! ME?!?!! Me. My almost-17 year old daughter thinks I am her hero. Anyone have a kleenex??

well Tori is a smart and observant person. i am so happy for you that she can see and acknowledge this about you so young. i hope you can put it somewhere safe inside. you will need and enjoy it for a long time to come. whoo hoo for you!!!!!

my oldest daughter has reached a point of peace and kindness with me after some teenage angst and rebellion. wow is it a blessing. it does help me not get so upset when she makes mistakes or pulls a drama queen move on me. =)

after a lot of abuse and rejection, her honest admiration makes me very happy.

Thank you all so much! She wanted me to edit her paper last night so I got to read it. It was very touching and kind of made me feel bad that I've let her know what a struggle it is to raise two kids alone. She did say in her paper that she's only see me cry twice and I've overcome great hardships, and I always find time for them, so I guess I shouldn't feel too bad.
