One thing Sony has always had over its competitors Nintendo and Microsoft is that their machines are the most modification-friendly.

I just bought a 2.5 SATA lap-top hard drive and will be installing it today. This will raise my PS3 from 60 gig to 250 gig.

The PS3s HDD can be replaced by almost any SATA formated lap top drive.

The actually surgery will be realatively simple. Just pop off the side panel, undo a couple of screws and slide the old sixty gig drive out. Install the 250 gig, put it all back in place, turn on the PS3 and she will boot it up in about 5 minutes.

The etra gigs, will make the system run faster, load faster, and gives me room for every PS3 game I will ever want to play. The brilliant thing is that the HD costs about 60 bucks. I want to keep my machine as long as possible because it is fully backwards compatible with all my PS2 games.

I will also be able to download movies and TV shows.

The operation was a complete success and she is now blazing fast on load times. I know some "xbots" and "Witards" are going to have something to say, but with a 250 gig hardrive, optical cable hooked to a 2000 watt home theater ( If I crank this up playing a good war game, the walls shake and the ceiling fan rattles) HDMI hooked to a 1080p TV I have the king of all gamming systems. When Killzone 2 coming this Friday, I am going to invite my Wi friends over so they can drool mindlessly. LOL!

Yeah, I've been thinking about getting a PS3... I think you might have just pushed me a little bit further to go buy one!! We just recently got a Wii, and I'm not very impressed with it. (I'm not too into the video game scene, though... my kids play them). Maybe I've just not been introduced to the right games, yet? I dunno..

Well, my son is almost 10, so he's really into the sports type games. My daughters are 6 and 7, so just something fairly easy to play would be ok for them... I'm not sure what type of game exactly.... just something interesting that's not too hard. Thanks, TJ!!

For your son, Madden Football 09 is excellent!, MLB The Show,(baseball) looks and plays well. I just rented Tiger Woods 09 and thought that was good too.

For your daughters two titles come to mind, 1 Little Big Planet, exclusive to PS3 LBP is an old school jumping platformer, that allows the players to customize their little characters and build their own levels. The graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is very simple.

Coming soon there is a game called "Flower" in it you use the motion controller to guide pedals in flight across varies environments and grow different flowers every you go, its very pretty.

All your kids may enjoy Hot Shots Golf, Out of Bounds, a cute multiplayer golf game with cartoonish characters that sports some great visuals and easy to learn

Also there is Sonic the Hedgehog, Unleashed which looks fantastic.

Finally there are a number of family style games that can be purchased and downloaded from the Playstation Network for less than 10 dollars each, including a bowling game that looks wonderful.

All of the above games are kid friendly with no objectionable content.

And after the kids go to bed, Mommy can pop in a great movie on Blu-Ray and have a great night! Once you see Blu-ray on the right kind of TV, you will never want to watch a DVD again. Trust me...

[quote=YoungModern;956283]Yeah, I've been thinking about getting a PS3... I think you might have just pushed me a little bit further to go buy one!! We just recently got a Wii, and I'm not very impressed with it.

For the hype Wii has a lot of crappy games, even my Wii loving friends have admitted to me that they have rented a lot of garbage on that system. This is also backed up by the fact that Wii games average a lower critic score than 360 or PS3 games with higher percentage of games rated below average than either of the other two.

This is not entirely Nintendo's fault, the system's popularity attracts a lot of low budget 3rd tier developers who then push a lot of "shovelware" on the poor Wii.

One of the most popular "games" Wii-Fit really does not count as a game, it is more or less an interactive aerobics video. I have also found out from talking to a lot of Wii owners that they just play the games that came in the bundle pack and nothing else.

Another troublesome indicator for Wii is that Gamestop is now selling used Wiis and they seem to have plenty. A lot of people are buying them and trading them in for PS3s or 360s. You never see used PS3s advertised at Gamestop. Sony may not have the upfront sales of Wii, but the people who are buying PS3s stay with them. The Wii hardware has a lot of limitations and as developers get their hands around PS3's cell processor, truly magnificent things will begin to emerge.

God or War 3 and Uncharted 2 are due out this year.

Tomorrow, Killzone 2, comes out and according to the reviews, the visuals, the sounds, and the play mechanics will blow away any shooting game that has come before it.

My prediction is that once Sony can get a base pirce down to 299, the PS3 will rocket past Wii. After all for 40 bucks more you get 15-20X the computing power, not to mention a Blue Ray player. For the money the PS3 has more features than any other system.
