I'm on the lowest dose of Geodon. I was on a higher dose but had no problem coming down to the lowest does, 80 mg. Now when I try going off the 80 mg I have horrible side affects including bad sleep (waking up every hour), worse depression (suicidal thoughts), and the usual withdrawal symptoms like shakiness and worse depersonalization (I already have depersonalization) and whatnot. Any ideas to make any of this better? I tried epsom salt baths, essential oils, and acupuncture but it didn't do much.

I hope someone comes along that's more help than me. I just cold turkeyed off it. I don't remember being any the worse for wear BUT she had already started me on a new med. I was supposed to taper the new one up while I tapered down the Geodon but I just replaced the geodon with the new med no tapering.

Are you wanting to stop meds period or just geodon? Maybe if they tapered you up on one while decreasing the Geodon? Or could you cut the geodon in half? and VERY slowly taper off that?

Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

Is geodon tablet or capsule? If it is tablet cut them in half for a week or so, then quarters for a week or so,then try to come off. You might still have withdrawls but might not be troubling. This is what I'm doing with Tegretol.

They are capsules. Can you get a script for a lower dose geodon ? They have as low as 20mg pills. Or is your dr against going off? I'm on two medications and my dr was against both for now but agreed to take me off one with the possibility of reducing the other if I'm still doing well. So maybe you could work something like that out with your doc. Just so you don't have to come off it alone.

Raindropvampire they are capsules and I'm already of another antipsychotic so I can't go up on anything else. Just trying to get off the one med. Thanks anyway.

The geodon website said 20mg, 40mg, 60mg, and 80 mg pills. I'd ask pdoc to reduce you more slowly off the geodon and explain the worsening symptoms/side effects you are having.
