((((((((TERRY))))))))

My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this very difficult time. She has reached the end of her suffering.

Between her "husband" and the courts; they murdered her. May she rest in the arms of the angels. Can't imagine being her mother. Terry Schivo

Terri would have wanted this 15 years ago. I'm glad they finally let her go. I feel worst for her husband, he must have really loved her to fight for her all these years. Hopefully her parents will find peace some day.

not only do I pray for the family...but I also hope that we as a society can work at not placing so much pressure on weight and appearance (particularly for young women) It was this pressure that obviously affected Terry enough to influence her to place her body under undue dietary stress, which resulted in her stroke. We need to let young women (and men) know that being rail thin is not the key to happiness or a guarantee of love....Let's try to change this negative trend of unrealistic body images......

Although it is a sad situation...it is my hope that Terri Schiavo will be able to finally rest in peace.
The families will grieve and mourn her but it is time for them to go through that phase instead of seeing her suffer like she has for 15 years.
Instead of having the weight of her life being on trial, maybe the media can reach out with the story on how Terri got to that point with her bulimia. That is what really killed this woman.

I have questions that will never be answered about her "quality" of life. I don't want to trigger anyone at all. The thing is I saw tapes of her smiling and tracking loved ones. That made me feel she was in there. It did not appear on tv at least that she was in a vegatative state. Otherwise how could she track and respond? Maybe she told hubby if this ever happens I want to die. I don't know. I do know that in my terminal care document I address that disability does not mean loss of quality of life. It doesn't mean one can't share a joy, a hug, a smile. It is a very big issue and my prayer is for peace for all who have cared so deeply. It is over. What can we learn?

WOW. Some really great responses here. i agree. Educating young women and men about eating disorders is a great start. Wow. Thank you all.

WW, if you've been following the news, they edited the tapes of her appearing to be lucid.

Personally, I blame her parents for the whole thing. I'm a parent and I can understand the horrible trauma of letting your child die. But their child hadn't been "alive" for 15 years. I think they were selfish for letting it drag out this long instead of letting her die with dignity and peace.

Candy, I just don't know enough to have an opinion, just questions, concerns. I am very sensitive to society saying that people with disabilities have no value. My foster daughter was very disabled and her life had meaning and value! I wish we could know the truths about the things we read in paper or see on t.v. but it is a blip in time. I do however agree that I am glad she is at peace. No suffering.

I agree, her husband is a scumbag, and in a certain way this was like murder, depriving one of sustenance (sp?) it saddened me.
Her husband just wanted insurance money.
In this case I think it would have been better if it was handed over to her family, he didn't want her anymore, had a "replacement" already.
He should of just divorced himself from the case, instead of making her die. What goes around, comes around.
Example Johnny Cochran died, the man that defended a killer, O.J., ah, what is this world coming to?
Please note, just my own personal feelings, I hope no one is offended with my reply, if so I apologize in advance.
I hope you are doing well and have a good week Terry Schivo

Take care now,

DE

Media, and mostly fashion magazines contribute to this rising unhealthy lifestyle, anorexia, bulimia and even both, just to obtain the shape men desire, even if it kills some.
Eating disorders are very serious, and should be addressed in the earliest stages.
Back in the late 70's I became anorexic, hormones shut down bones sticking out, that even clthes wouldn't fit, so sales lady referred me to the "girls" dept., even Junior sizes were too roomy. Long story, with luck, after being reluctant, and started getting dizzy, stopped menstruating, hair loss, etc. I sought help, and got better.
Sometimes I wish I could be like that, just a little.
Take care,

DE

I might have missed something with eating disorders. Just know my mother inlaw of all ppl has asked me to make sure she is on no kind of life support and if suffering to put her down to put it nicely. I don't know what to think. I know what she wishes but could I follow through with what she has asked me? Not so sure. I know I do not want to be on any life support. Maybe I am off topic?

One thing I do know about this situation is it's one about life and death ...so right there not one to be taken lightly.

In my condition I usually don't see the grey and it's funny that's all I do see here...is the "grey area". It's not black and white.

The problem in this case is that the public is not provided 100% of all the facts in this case. So for someone to stand up and stand firmly in judgment without having all of the FACTS ...that seems awfully ignorant and a bit shameful given the circumstances.

The family has suffered a great deal that goes without question. I don't think that they need to stand in judgment.

May her and her Family finally be in Peace

My only hope for her now is her parents get the burial they want. He's already moved on, the husband has a new family. That's their daughter, give them the catholic burial they want for closure.

This story makes me sad. TT_TT I can't watch news because if it pops up it ruins my day.

I know... T_T That's so so so sad. I don't even know what I'd do in their position.

This was something that never should have been the media specticle it was. The facts are the husband had custody of her. She married him and in marrying him she realised that he would have custody of her in an event like this. There are people taken off life support every day. Why is this case different? I have very little respect for both sides of the family. Her parents because they made her life into a media specticle and her husband because he would not let her family be with her when she passed. We will never know what Terry Schaivo wanted but I know if I was in her position I would not want to live the way she did. I would have wanted to die 15 years ago.

I think a person has to put it in writing, like a living will type of thing.
If this was in writing in Terry's case, then I can believe it and feel that her very own wishes be granted.
It is a horrible decision, I watched my dad die Terry Schivo
Take care and good wishes for better days.
