Three years ago today, my cousin, Gilles was killed in a car accident. He was only 25 and never got to meet his daughter. She was born two weeks after he died. Me and him were very close as kids.. since we were the same age, we hung out a lot since he only lived around the corner. He was like a brother to me... even though we did not talk as much as we got older (he moved to a different province when I was in high school), we still always made an effort to keep in touch every now and then and we always knew that we would be there for each other. He was an amazing cousin, and great father to his son. His daughter was named Gillian, after him. I miss him so much... especially now that I have all my family on facebook, I know that if he were still alive today I would be talking to him all the time on facebook, as I do with the rest of my aunts and uncles and cousins who live in New Brunswick. I know he is at peace and watching over our family... I don't understand why some people die so young... why life can be so cruel sometimes.. but I do know that I will always remember him and never forget the good times we had when he was alive.

RIP Gilles... miss you xo

I think its hard no matter how many years it has been. I am sorry you lost him though. Ironically today is the anniversary of my brother's death as well.

Do you find this makes you dread Valentine's Day, because it just means the next day is THE day?

Hugs to you.

Thank you perpetuallysad, Tish and Sabrina. I still can't believe it's been 3 years already.. I don't think it ever gets easier coping with the loss of a loved one no matter how much time goes by.

perpetuallysad, I'm so sorry to hear of your brother's anniversary death ((((((((hugs)))))))) I'm here if you ever need to talk.

Tish, Gilles was actually my cousin, but he was like a brother to me growing up.. He will always hold a special place in my heart
