It's July 1st and I visited my parent's grave. Mom's been gone a year and a month, dad's been gone 16 years ... I think we buried him on the 1st of July.

I hadn't been to the grave in many years, not even to the graveside service for mom last year.

I put a cross and some lilies and an American flag ... and took a picture. Then I sent the photo emailed it--to the rest of the siblings. "What's wrong with this picture?" Mom's name and dates haven't been added to Dad's plate ... and there are 4 holes drilled for another plate for some reason. It should have been included in the outrageous price my sister made us pay for the funeral ... yet?

I'm not pursuing the issue. I can't. I just can't care any more.

Ah in this age of modern technology and instant communication ... none of my family has replied. I could rationalize that and say ... well of course not, they're all older than me and don't use modern technology!

I know this year has been a hard one for you JD, missing your Mom and all the adjustments that went along with her passing.

You are in my thoughts and I too pray for peace to come upon you. Maybe some of the folks here are a bit of a temporary chosen family for you that can continue to grieve with you.

My only family is here at PC. (Though I do have other family but no real contact with them )

On the surface, having PC as my family can look rather pitiful.
However, because I know behind each name and post is a person, that puts a different light on it.
