I've been struggling with what is known as the Electra Complex. My father's ex wife has tried to get me away from him, but now he has distanced himself away from me. I feel so abandoned. Is there any specific kind of therapy that can help me with this? I know that this is a problem for me since I've become suicidal and wanted to SI over his pulling away from me to be with his new gf.

Please help me....I'm desperate.

(((hugs))) Lexi just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you.... is there any way you and your dad can enter family therapy together (with or without the gf?) Sigh. I'm sorry you feel abandoned.

I agree with Sky...possible therapy may be good, with just you or you and your father. I hope you find what you are looking for.

There is a therapist available on this site to answer these sorts of questions that Doc John doesn't have time to answer. On the main index there's an "Ask the Therapist" forum. You might give that a try.
