R.C. Gorman has died of pneumonia. He was a painter of strong Navajo women. He lived in Taos, when I lived in Pilar. We ate at Lambert's every Sunday night. (in our sweats) Lamberts was the fanciest restaurant in Taos, yet it was the most fun-loving and friendly. It was such fun to sit in there and talk about art, people, cowboys, jewelry, food.....

Taos no longer has it's backbone. He was the glue that held the art community together. I'll miss him so much.

very sorry to hear of this loss. we're so glad you knew R.C. and have those fun memories of loving times and wonderful friendship.

somehow it seems as if his passing and your daughter's contractions could be connected...............if one believes in that sort of thing.

with hankies, tea and cookies until better...

R.C. had arranged a formal sitting for a portrait in November. After Thanksgiving. I was flying out and and back in two days. We were shooting it on a mesa, west of Albuquerque, at sunset.... A Navajo Friend Has Died

Oh no! I hadn't heard this news yet, oh my. When I lived in Santa Fe, occasionally visiting Taos, his work such a wonderful presence.

I can feel your pain of loosing RC.....it is sad when we lose someone so rich in history, stories, talent, & someone so full of life.

The one thing that can be said for the navajo people is that they are so in tune with nature, their environment.....& seem to be able to travel graciously through their lives.

It is wonderful to enjoy remembering the times you shared together & I am sure all the things you learned from him.

My heart goes out to you & your memories.....along with his family & all the others that will not be able to enjoy his presence any more.

Debbie

It would be cool if you could still go...I bet you would catch a beautiful still shot of his spirit. A Navajo Friend Has Died

Pat,
That last poem from me was a reply to your post here at the top. I put it in the wrong forum. I know you grieve and also with dignity.
Ive been negligent with my end of the support agreement on all here. I do what I can.
