I know losing a pet may not seem as important as a person, but am having trouble with this one.
Ricky was with us for 7 years, he started talking at 3 years, he was a cinnamon cockateil, with a sweet disposition, we used him at our center in pet therapy so many of us will miss him, thanks Ryan for the kind words and I will look up the Bridge

I am sorry for your loss Nothemama. I have been there myself. I remember standing in the rain and the dark praying when my favorite cat died. It may sound silly to some but when you lose a true friend(even a pet) it is hard. I feel for you and I hope that you are ok.

Pets can be just as dear to us as family members who are human, there is nothing wrong with greiving and being sad for your beloved bird.

He sounded like a giving bird with a purpose, I'm sure he is missed.

Sorry for the loss of your beloved, Ricky. He sounds so exceptionally handsome, and touched so many lives through his work. Sounds like a really special pet, who will be missed.

I think that the loss of a pet is just as important as losing a loved one (human being). To me they are family and I truly believe that love knows no bounds.

I know your pain all too well, as I have lost many pets, some which have crippled me.

Hang in there.

Glad to see ya back Pat
Thank you one and all for the kind words, it's been soooooo hard coming downstairs every morning and not hearing my Ricky say "Hi, whatca doin"
He was a very special character, I know ppl say birds mimic, but how did he know how to say things to cheer ppl up
When I'd say it's time for bed he would say "No"
You all would have liked him

Rainbow Bridge Story

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Author unknown...

This is for you and Papa and your group Confident Beginnings who loved and cared for Ricky so much and grew together as a family. He will forever be a part of your heart and souls. And you a part of his.
Hugz~

i like to picture my pets welcoming newcomers to Rainbow Bridge. i believe that out of all that i've had, Tiger, a greyhound, would be letting Ricky ride on his back right now. Ricky would be shouting, at the top of his lungs, "what a place this is!"........xoxox pat
