Hi everyone,
My apologies for such a long absence. It's been pretty stressful here lately. Our St. Bernard, Jessie, got very sick. She would barely eat, she slept a lot, and was having a hard time breathing. Had a lot of tests done, and antibiotics were administered, with no change. We took her to a specialist, and the specialist did more tests, and an ultrasound. Discovered that Jessie had a collapsed lung, and other resperatory issues that would have to be dealt with by exploratory surgery. There was no guarantee anything would help.
After much thought, we decided to let Jessie go. Today we made arrangements for that, and in a couple weeks, we should be able to pick up her ashes.
We have other dogs, but Jessie was one of our first babies. We will miss her terribly. The house feels strange without her.

Anyway, I just thought I'd update you on things, and hopefully when things around here start feeling a bit calmer, I can visit more often.

My heart goes out to you, your family and her.
I grew up with dogs always in my life, and I have 2 dogs now. It is so hard and heart breaking to say "goodbye" . . .I know, yes I know way too well. Try to sit on the other side (though very hard) and realize this wonderful creation, has been able to know love, affection and care. She loves you and always will, . . . even in the "other" world.
Just, believe, just believe . . .

All my love and condolescences,
Rosanne

i am so very sorry that you've lost Jessie. it is so sad to lose a dog that you love so much. it takes time and you'll grieve a lot. it will get better, but it does take time. i'll be thinking of you each day and i want you to know that Tippye, Henrietta, J.J., Smut, Jose, Bro, Sister Rose and Cornelius Bros, Bro, Oliver, Newman Marcus, Levon, Beauregard, Pretty Boy, Gay, Rattler, Tiger, Gypsy Rose Lee, Phoebe, Carly, Patti La Belle and many others have greeted Jessie and are showing her around Rainbow Bridge. When you get there, she'll be the first one to greet you. love, pat

Friendship's Tapestry

So often when I think of you, and all the times we shared,
My heart is filled with thankfulness to have a friend who cared.
You listened oh so quietly to all my joys and trials;
And you're being there had often changed my tears to smiles.

The subtle love between two friends is so hard to define,
especially when one is human and other is canine -
It's somehow like a tapestry with colors soft and bold
Yet deep within the weaving there are tiny threads of gold.

Yes, rare and oh so lovely are your friendship's threads of gold,
For they will last a lifetime and then when my story's told,
Someone will hold my tapestry and turn it towards the light,
And tiny points, those threads of gold, will gleam and shine so bright.

They may think - it's just a thread, like those of green or blue-
Perhaps they'll never ever know that golden thread was you.

I've been thinking lately how you've touched my life just so-
Of how you're yet so dear to me - your warm heart and cold nose.
I feel you're still right next to me, and though you did depart,
Your golden thread of friendship, of love, still weaves within my heart.

I'm so sorry about Jessie. My parents just lost their dog that they had for many years. A dog I grew up with. I know it's very, very hard. My thoughts are with you.

Hi Magickal,

I feel like I understand how you feel.

We have six dogs, but the first of the bunch is Molly, a St. Bernard. She's still with us, but many times I think what a huge loss it will be when she goes someday.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your beautiful, Jessie.

Keep us posted as you can.

Hugs,

EJ

Thank you so much, everyone. It means a lot to me that you're here. Our dog Jessie

Our oldest rat terrier, Taz, has been very comforting as well these past couple days. He lies next to me as I'm taking a nap, and once in awhile, he'll scrub my face and eyes. Of course, during this time, I'm 'his' momma, and nobody else's, so I'll hear the occasional growl if one of the other pups comes near. Makes me feel pretty special, lemme tell ya. Our dog Jessie

Hi Magickal,

Our pet friends just key into how we're feeling.

I'm glad Taz is keeping a close eye on you, and being extra protective of you right now.

Hugs,

EJ

I'm sorry to hear about Jessie. I know how very special your animals are to you and how terribly painful it is to love one so much.

I'm sending warm healing vibes your way...
