I would like to talk with other women who lost their father at an early age and never had a father figure in their life. My father died when I was 5 months old and my mother never remarried or even dated. I am not 37 and I long to know something about him more every year and wish that I was someones little girl. Anyone like me out there?

i was 15, so at least i was able to know him for a while. But i took it for granted. I had no idea death could happen so quickly and to someone so young.
I'm always missing him, or that "father" that i never knew as a grownup. I used to be in crowds and when i walked next to a man, i would pretend he was my father, just so i could feel that connection again for a second. I know it totally changes the way you live life...good or bad. i'm sorry for your loss. |

Hi Julianne,
I'm sorry you lost your dad so young. It is a difficult void to fill. I lost my father when I was ten and it was so traumatic for me, I buried the memories of him way down in my toes and have yet to release them. It's weird remembering things we did together and places we went, but not him. He is always in the background of those memories, but I can't seem to "see" him. It's like (to borrow a line from the Rolling Stones) he's standing in the shadows. I hope you can find some peace with it. ![]() |

I had one and never knew him, never was he special in any way, just there and unable to make positive contact. He is dying now.

I lost my father when I was four years old. My first conscious memory of life was seeing the shock on my mother's face when the deputy came to our house with the news. I have been on a life long journey to process everything related to my father's passing, and have recently started a blog to record everything. You can find the blog at findingfather.net.
