I lost my only child Jason suddenly on 1/3/13.

I recently have had an experience with a dragonfly which I will elaborate, but was wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences after losing a love one.

First, This spring we planted a small tree in our backyard as a memorial to Jason. At its base I placed a round blue glass symbol of a dragonfly.

My husband and I had a vacation in Maine on Kezar lake the week after 4th of July. The second night there after dinner we sat on the dock to watch the sunset. We had just settled in our seats when a dragonfly came by flying around then settling about 1 foot from us on the dock. The dragonfly stayed the entire time we were there in the same spot. I said to my husband, that is Jason.
I knew that it is believed a dragonfly holds the spirit/soul of a loved one who had passed and the have comeback to let you know they are ok.

I had not thought much more about it until this past Friday. I was having a hard week missing Jason extra hard, talking to him in my mind.

Friday around 1 pm I let Jason's dog out in the backyard. It was a nice day and I decided to sit in one of the bar chairs I had just bought for my husband. One of the last projects Jason did was to help my husband build a low deck with a hot tub on it. Jason loved the hot tub. For Father's Day I bought this bar set to go next to the hot tub.

I wasn't there more than 5 minutes when this beautiful blue dragonfly appeared and landed on the corner of the chair across from me. It is a good thing our back yard is private. I started talking to it. I said Jason ? It is you, do you like the new chairs ?
It continued to just sit there. I said you have wings, the dragonfly then started to fly around me doing all these dips and soars. It hovered right in front of my face. Then it sat back on the chair.
I was there for a long time, when I said I have to go now. I put my hand out and said come say bye for now. It landed on my hand then flew off.

Sunday around 1:00 pm we had just come back from shopping and I saw the blue dragonfly out the window. Excitedly I said to my husband Jason is back come out in a minute.

I sat in the same chair and it landed right in front of me. The hot tub was open, today, it kept flying over it and landing on the start button.
My husband came out and the dragonfly landed right in front of him. The grill had its cover off too. The dragonfly kept going over to it and landing on the handle. Jason was the griller and this was the new one he wanted us to get. Then another dragonfly appeared and they danced in the air together. I said you have a friend. The other dragonfly left and Jason sat on the bar in front of us. Again I said I have to go and it landed on my hand then disappeared.

I hope today around 1pm my dragonfly will appear again.

What do you think ?

((((speed3))))) Nice to see you on PC again. how have you been? so you a dragonfly flitting around you, i believe that truely that is your son making his presence known to you. how wonderful and comforted you must feel knowing your son is happy and free to come to say hello to his mum, i feel so excited for you. when ever i think of my mum and tell hell that i'am troubled and wish she was here i can be rest assaured that 1 single white feather will fall from the sky or appear from any where really , but i know in my heart that my mum is right there beside me,it happens every time.
i hope your son will fly by again to see you speed3

yes but can't go into it right now, too tired to get emotional at the moment. enough to say it is a beautiful thing to know our loved ones are still around even if not in the way we knew them.

hope he comes back every day x

I had a blue dragonfly that would visit me at the side of the swimming pool in the early 2000's. He (I assume!) returned many times. It was like he understood me. I was going through a very rough time in my life. I'm pretty amazed you are describing like the exact same experience. It was like we had a date to meet, my bug and I. I totally get it. But I can't explain it.

The dragonfly came back this afternoon. I had an appointment so it was past 1:00.

I am sure it was Jason, but today he seemed to want to be alone in the backyard. He kept sitting on the side of the hot tub. Checking out the grill. Checking out the different chairs. I sensed that and said I am glad you are here. I blew a kiss into the air and watched from the window as he played flying from here to there.

I was feeling stronger today and was just happy to know he was here, his spirit that is.

I am sure the dragonfly will make more appearances.

A glistening blue beautiful magical creature. Just like my beautiful
Beautiful, boy.

Dragonflies are truly magical creatures. As you can probably tell, I have a particular affinity towards them.

Our hearts can know things that may not make sense to our eyes sometimes. If you feel like this is your son and are feeling a connection to this dragonfly, then it may very well be him. I had a similar experience this time last year after my mother passed away. She came to me as a butterfly. Now, being August, we get plenty of butterflies here. But this one felt different. And it hung around for probably a week or so, then it was gone. I truly felt that she had come around to make sure I was okay and to say goodbye.

I am sorry about the loss of your son. But I am glad you have his dragonfly to comfort you. Hugs.
