My dear brother

It has been almost 33 years since I was able to behold my great, big, magnificent brother
with my earthly eyes.

If you all could behold me today
My grief
I could not disguise.

It was a cold day, as I nestled my cheek
Against his beaver coat,
as we hugged.

He was my tall hero!
I loved him with all my heart,
I wish we never had to part.

He was all that I wanted to be,
but he was taken from me.

I thought in the beginning
that God did not love me any more,
but He opened a door.

A door for me to become
All that I wanted to be.

It was hard walking in his big footsteps,
but it made me strong.

I felt I was second-best,
and wrong many times,
but I persevered,
and journeyed on.

Sometimes with a song,
Sometimes with a sigh,
and a good cry.

So when you are dealt a heart-breaking blow,
Don't stop on your upward climb,
and you will find
Hope and peace in the journey.

You may rest,
But pass the test,
and move on,
Through your tears.
