posting here but I need to share what I found out yesterday. At lunch with my oldest son yesterday, he gave me the news that his paternal grandmother has brain cancer and is only expected to live another three months. Apparently she either isn't concious or something. He called it "looped out."

I divorced my son's dad over 30 years ago, but I never divorced my MIL. She was a sweet, kind hearted "Oakie." She taught me a lot about the "old ways" and even called me on some things she thought might be abuse when I just had my daughter. I don't think she was right, we had our go-round, settled our differences and became fast friends and confidants. Above all, we learned to respect each other's differences.

Right now, I'm having a very difficult time wrapping my brain around that this precious woman is suffering such an agonizing death. I guess I'm still in shock. She's the only one I've called Mom since my own mother died. My heart is broken.

I don't feel quite right...

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Tomi}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

I am so sorry. I know the next few months will be incredibly difficult for you - if there is anything that I can do for you, please let me know.

I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.

xoxo

I really appreciate your thoughts and prayers. I'll get through this knowing I have your support. When you pray, don't forget the ex, ok? I think this is going to hit him really, really hard. The kids will be okay and my grandkids hardly know her, so... What a shame that they didn't get to experience her love, though.

Thanks {{{{{{{{{{{{{Jillers}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Maybe that's why I finally heard from my ex. I don't feel quite right...

Only thing I know more than I did before is that she knows she has cancer. I asked if it would cause anyone problems if I went down to see her. We'll see.
