my little rat bella died the other day..... i rushed her to the vet for emergency surgery but she had a stroke after the surgery and died. i feel terrible that i wasnt with her when she went, that she was with strangers and nobody was holding her. i know alot of people dont understand rats as pets but she was very special to me. she always knew when i was sad and tried to cheer me up. i try not to play favorites with my pets but i have to admit that bella was my favorite because she was so sweet and loving. my boss said that next time one of my rats gets sick i should just "put it outside and let another animal eat it" rather than spend money at the vet........ i thought that was super insensitive & wanted to tell him maybe he should try that the next time his daughter gets sick. i know its not the same but still...... my pets (of all species) are important to me.......

anyway rip bella....... i'll miss my little stinker.....

((((((Bellaviolet)))))) So sorry to hear that you lost your little rattie Bella. I have had rats as pets (last 2 were Prince William and Prince Harry) and they were wonderful little guys. Smart, sweet, loving. You are right - because they are rats no one understands what terrific little creatures they are and because they do not understand they make all sorts of hideously insensitive comments. I am sure Bella knew you loved her and were trying to do your absolute best to save her so do not be hard on yourself that you were not right there - I know she knew you were with her in your heart. Take care.
