We just found out one of our kittens in the basement is dead. She seems to have fallen. She was the more social one. I'm extremely upset right now. Goodbye, Peek-a-boo

Cats, even kittens don't typically die from falls unless they're extreme. There has to be a preexisting condition that would lead to a fall that would kill a cat or the place is extremely unsafe.

It does sound like your place is unsafe for cats right now...I really really hope you're able to remedy that asap before it happens again.

The basement isn't messy. But based on what you're saying, I should ask my boyfriend what he thinks happened again. I haven't been in the basement since we moved in 10 years ago.

If you haven't been there, you don't know if it's bad or not. He could die of bug bites infected. If cats pee and poop all over, it also creates unlivable condition for pets.

At this point, I don't think it matters what your bf thinks happened. The fact of the matter is that if kittens can die in that house, it's an unsafe environment for them.

I am so sorry about the kitten. How sad.

Maven, I love cats so much, and kittens are wonderful and adorable. I'm wondering, though, why your cats aren't spayed and neutered? I'm concerned about your cats...that they'll keep having litters.

I wasn't there to create a mess. Also, I could see partway inside when the door was opened. There's no mess. Also, my boyfriend put a litter box down there for them.

All the indoor cats are spayed and neutered. These kittens are from an outdoor cat. They squeezed into the basement window and when my boyfriend caught one and put her back outside, she ran right back in. Peek-a-boo hid. So, we decided to feed them and try to get them friendly so they could be adopted.

Last year, animal control tried to catch all the cats (including the kittens' mother), but couldn't get them all into the traps, so they decided to wait a few months, hoping the cats would be more trusting. My boyfriend was who they worked with, since he owns the house. He didn't call them back, but is now telling me he plans to do it soon.
