today is the anniversary of my Grandpa's death, March 7th! why do I continue to remember this date/day??? it's been 19 years now! and I was only 13 when he died....

maybe it has something to do with the fact that my Grandma (his wife) died four & a half months before him!

I remember the days & years all of my grandparents died. It is very odd that I remember when they died, but don't remember their birthdays. The mind is a strange thing. I hope you're not feeling too sad about the anniversary.

it's that way for me too, but that's mostly cuz I was fairly young when three of the four died. two at age 13 (like I mentioned above) and my other grandfather at my age 3 3/4! never really knew him and honestly don't even remember - outside of some photos I've seen and stories I've heard.

my last grandparent is still alive!!! (for now)

jrae I am so sorry to hear of the losses of your grandparents. No matter how long ago it is sometimes grief is delayed. It is not easy letting go of people that meant so much to us.

I remember my grandparents but I always wish I could relate to them as a more mature adult. It is not easy to let go of those wishes but I try to be gentle on myself for just being the kid I was when they died.

My Mom passed away June 1st 1981...I was 10...I still mourn Her death to this day and still more so on June 1st every year....perhaps the dates of those we love that passed away we remember because we were closest to that person....

I think the dates can remain etched because of the effect it has on our lives. My mom's 'angelversary' as one of my friends coins these dates is this week on the 22nd.

so my Grandma just passed away on Friday!

here's something I just realized: so as I mentioned above, my Grandpa 'M' died 19 years ago. and it was 10 years before that that my Grandpa 'D' died!
my Grandma 'D' just died and later this year it will be 20 years since my Grandma 'M' died!

is it just me or is that weird that they happened in intervals of ten?!?!

-> and now I have 'back-to-back' ones on March 7th and March 16th. plus one died on my half-birthday!

So sorry to hear of her passing.

It's strange how things happen in intervals and dates as each family might have their own story.
My gram has a bunch of dates in her Bible. One date stood out as we went through it. It was a moment like you describe, for us. Eyebrow raising type of moment.
