my boyfriends mother is dealing with the loss of her younger brother who suddenly died of cancer 2 months later after being diagnosed....now its like she has no will to live or even get up in the morning, when i go over to her house shes laying in bed and cries constantly, i wish i could do or say something to help but everything i do seems not to work...any suggestions to making her feel better? by the way she's been depressed and on anti depressants for years my boyfriend told me...and it first started with the loss of her first husband.....i just want to help her become happy again.

I am so sorry for her loss....maybe gently suggest grief counseling to her. maybe you could sit with her and let her know it is ok to talk about him. there are no good ways to help someone other than letting them know you are there for them. you are a good gf to want to help her during this time in her life.

What type of person is she? Is she open to things like hugs and whatnot?

I think just saying "you look like you could use a hug" if shes open to that sort of thing would be really nice
